Sona Runes Help Please??

I'm still somewhat new to pvp and one of the champs ive started to main is Sona. I was conflicted on what to do with her runes ive obviously heard to go straight greater mark of magic pen, greater seal of armor, and either scaling magic resist or ability power. But i saw a guide that said the yellows should be greater seal of health +8 because of her squishy nature. But they are expensive runes.. I wanted to know is it better to go the +1 armor or +8 health. Sorry really knew to runes so dont know what will help me keep control of staying alive better XD. Help would be appreciated

Good question let me just explain it so you can understand why next time. What does armor do exactly? It gives you effective health. Basically, if you have 0 armor and get 1 armor, you reduce your damage by 1%. This means you have 1% extra health if you take only physical damage. So suppose you have 100 hp, now you have 101 "effective" hp.

Back to the question, it really depends on your lane matchup. They will always have an AD carry, but sometimes they have a Karma or a Sona (Blind pick or if you don't get sona). If you really want to get AP blues for kill potential, then go health, since they do a lot of damage and the health will give you "effective health" that does not only apply to AD's.

Now suppose they have an Alistar... Alistar doesn't do damage, the ADc does. So the Armor would reduce the major damage coming from the lane.

TLDR Armor is better when main threat is AD Health is better when main threat is either both AP and AD (or Corki, who deals AP damage mostly anyway) and you're feeling like you can kill Safest bet is to get Armor Yellows and MR Blues, but then you lose out on a bit of damage.

I personally go with Armor Seals. Mostly because it's what I have, But I usually prefer defenses over Health when using a champ with healing.

I know that Armor Seal use to be the standard for just about everyone, though I'm not so sure anymore.

Also, you have a lot less to worry about magic damage, so you probably want to take AP Glyphs over MR.

Health are just generally better seals for most rune pages, but not by a wide margin (it used to be incomparable but riot nerfed them a little to bring them in line) MR are a solid choice for glyphs since you're usuall against some kind of mage that will poke you with magic damage Marks and quints are a little harder. Sona likes cdr but can often find enough of that in her item build. AP quints aren't bad. I think Mpen or hybrid pen are solid choices for marks and movespeed quints feel pretty strong on pretty much every champion in the game so they're good for general purpose.

Marks- Armor Seals- 5 Health, 4 scaling Health Glyphs- 9 Scaling MR unless you are against a heavy ap support then go 5 Mr and 4 scaling MR Quints- AP
