What other roles is nami good for besides support?

Nothing. If you try to take her anywhere else you're not going to have any success outside of pure luck and failure of the opponent.
She's awesome at support but that's it It's not uncommon, is Janna or Soraka good at anything else? Not really...
She is decent mid lane utility mage.
Hello Enraged, I can easily help you with your question since I was ranked in the top 100 global last season with Nami. I also have over 800 Nami games career wise. Nami is best in the support role. However, if you are able to master all of her mechanics and you understand match ups, Nami can in all honesty carry in the mid lane as well. Truth be told I have never lost playing AP Nami mid. She does require a lot of mechanical skill though. She is in my opinion one of the hardest supports to play due to her kit and upmost importance of positioning.

If you want to try Nami in another position, try Sona, she can also mid.
Maybe, maaaaaybe, IN NORMALS, you could try Nami top "tank", buy resistances items and cdr, poke with your heal.
Only do that if you are dying to try Nami in another position.
I should try her as a jungler sometime.

her basic attack is kinda weak, even with E...merely good for the next 2-3 shots... u can solo mid or top with full ad/ap nami...but u are gonna get rekt early game; mid game on... diff story
