Things GhostCrawler said about the new Morde rework have been bugging me.

I don't know where the spoiler wrap is so I'll just but my personal thought on at the top and the full discussion below for those who want to read it.

#1. New Morde isn't an ADC or a Marksman. He is a juggernaut, which is a type of fighter

This is an interesting line simply because of classifications. GC says ADC or Marksman which, I might be looking into it seems like he considers Marksman a subclass of ADCs. Most so called melee ADCs are just assassins in bot lane. Riot could have some really interesting new champion designs just waiting to be released. META Breaking ADC maybe. If ADC has one subclass it might have another. This could just be him talking about Morde not having ranged autos so it could be just me over thinking it.

The other part that interesting is he just flat out says Morde isn't an ADC but a Jugg. Apparently the concept of Morde going bot isn't to be the Attack Damage Carry but an unstoppable wrecking ball. Ironic since he get's poked out easily.

#2. In terms of why we his rework works well bottom, our thought process went like this: Morde has really strong strengths and weaknesses, which give him a good identity, but meant that success or failure with Morde had much more to do with enemy team counterpicks (or maybe ganking) than the Morde player himself. The idea is that if he is playing duo in a bottom lane, he can use his W on an ally to buff them both and in return, the ally can help cover Morde's weaknesses.

So my problem with this is GC explains that the reason Morde is taken bot is because t gets rid of his weaknesses wit ha support. Kind of made bot the support lane there then the the duo lane but I see where that is coming from but isn't champion weakness a good thing? Ironically bot is Morde is most weak because of the poke, but if someone gets rid of all of his weaknesses, like Thresh then he's just OP. There's not much else to say behinds having a weakness is good for gameplay. IF a champion has no period of which they can be harmed then how are the to be harmed?

(You can still play him solo, but he won't be using W as frequently and will run into his old problems of not being able to hold his own in a lane.)

I Still don't get what's so hard about making it so Morde's W when cast on an ally champion he can get the heal but when he casts it on a minion/just himself he gets the standard live affect. I don't see the reason in taking away solo his power.

Also as cleared up above, GC doesn't consider Morde an ADC, so did he really need his AP Mage style destroyed for this rework to be made? It seems like he could of kept his old skills but have some tweaks to make him far powerful late game then early.

#3. It's not an experiment in the scientific sense that we're testing a hypothesis and using players as lab rats. That's not really fair or respectful to League players.

Again, what is the PBE used for? In a since we all kind of singed up to be your lab rats so our friends and fellow community members wouldn't have the suffer the problems that were there.

The second part is very true thought. No one wants to unwillingly be a lab rat IMO but like i said about the PBE we kind of signed up for it.

#4. It is a pretty radical idea so I'm not at all prepared to call it a huge victory or declare that we might do the same approach to other champions.

Um, does this first part of the comment imply that GC already considers this a victory for the rework even with all the massive complaints or am I looking to far into it again?

Two the second part, I can say I'm not against more variety in bot lane with melee champions or just Mages, aka the Old Morde bot lane.

#5. We knew there was some risk involved. We were comfortable with that level of risk to go live with it, but we're not so arrogant that we don't realize that sometimes we just miss the mark on things like this.

So this is the last part of when he talks about the Morde rework and it still makes me feel like the PBE is useless but gives me a little faith. The last part might suggest that if this Morde flops hard then riot might just bring back the old one or try to get to his full rework/VU ASAP instead of holding it back so (much needed) others may pass.

In conclusion this actually shed some light but "IT BURNS US!" GC pretty much said that all PBE feedback is ignored with his comments here and that his views on the Morde rework seem to be a bit strange. While he wants better for League's health he's ok with a champion being made to have no weakness. The general idea of a support goes past just getting them through the laning phase is, to support your team not to be your ADC's mule.

Morde already has really good built in defense with his passive. Most ADC's trade defense for mobility and his ult is kind of already a reignite the fight ability. He gets health and potentially a new ally just from it's activation. GC doesn't say anything about the Dragon affect and how Morde's ult has strange affects on it but he does convey his thoughts on pretty much everything else which is good.

While I say Morde shouldn't have to get a massive rework changing how his abilities act, he just needs numerical adjustments. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If CT wants this rework so badly then give it to Yorick. Everything about it just sounds like it should be made for Yorick yet it's being thrown to Mordekaiser.

So those are my thoughts about what GC talked about. If you feel like I'm wrong about my way of thinking or right we can easily talk about it and hopefully not just end up with the endless "I'm right you're wrong!" spin that the internet gets itself into everytime there is an argument.

Full talk with GC.

[Q] I Dont understand the morde rework, u guys say he is going to be a botlane champ now as the adc??? I Dont get it because he isn't ranged and he isn't Ad and your putting him in the botlane. Please explain cuz I'm rly confused

[A] New Morde isn't an ADC or a Marksman. He is a juggernaut, which is a type of fighter. In terms of why we his rework works well bottom, our thought process went like this: Morde has really strong strengths and weaknesses, which give him a good identity, but meant that success or failure with Morde had much more to do with enemy team counterpicks (or maybe ganking) than the Morde player himself. (You can still play him solo, but he won't be using W as frequently and will run into his old problems of not being able to hold his own in a lane.) Traditionally, melee bottom had to play really aggressively to have a chance against the opposite lane. New Morde doesn't play so much like that. He has the scaling and defenses to survive a more protracted engagement.

[Q] Is this new Morde just a experiment?

[A] It's not an experiment in the scientific sense that we're testing a hypothesis and using players as lab rats. That's not really fair or respectful to League players. It is a pretty radical idea so I'm not at all prepared to call it a huge victory or declare that we might do the same approach to other champions. We knew there was some risk involved. I can't wait until they nerf him onto the bench because someone finds a way to make a successful trilane with Morde and Zil in a 1:1:3 setup with a mid and top laner who are strong and swiping the jungle.

Riot loves the idea of changing up the meta... at least until they actually change the meta.

I actually want to try this on the PBE now. If only any of my friends had it to make this 1000% easier to try to perform.

Highly likely.
