I wanna know why matchmaking in normals is bad

Something that I have noticed in more and more of the matches I play is other players whose rank is way above mine. I recently got out of a game where I was placed against what I am assuming to be a premade with 4 people ranked gold 5 or higher. The one other person was unranked level 9. I am silver 5 and just wanted to play some normals, but i was slaughtered by a platinum 5 yasuo. I just want to know why this happened. Why I would be placed against a team that is way higher in rank than I could hope to be. Did I do something wrong?

Because some people don't like to play ranked. having no progression and playing with that big of a skill difference each normal game because you don't like ranked would make a large chunk of people leave

That game type is just to have fun with a low Q time. Sometimes is it a lot of difference? Yes. Some games they put me even vs a Diamond player. But that is also good to have the experience and see what punishes you so you can improve.
