Taric Support?

Is this a viable pick rn, and if so how should I build my runes, and how the bloody hell do you lane against Senna support and her stupidity?

Taric is only ever a support, but he isnt a top tier support atm.

I would take pretty much the same runes as a leona/thresh would.

Aftershock -> FoL -> whatever u need most secondary inspiration for boots and the CDR

As for laning vs senna, let them push into you and wait for a gank. Then its a free double if you have the CC since they are very squishy and her camouflage is pretty weak. As you hit mid-game a classic teamcomp with a tank/enchanter support has much stronger teamfighting than one with Senna as support. She pretty much only brings damage to the fight and a small shield/heal. Its basically the same situation as a marksman toplane.

Taric is able impact game outcomes.

Personally I find him strongest into matchups he can chain his passive for CDR. Originally I wanted to get better on him to have a pocket pick to counter Nautilus but have enjoyed him enough that I m playing him semi regularly.

Aftershock is popular and common but I really enjoy Guardian on him. The MS gains are quite nice and its easy to trigger due to his W. I run shield bash as its fun but demolish is probably better. Bone plaiting is helpful especially in early game for handling trades. And revitalize has blatent synergy with a kit that has both heals and shields.

Standard Biscuit and Insight for being strong secondary runes. I like the regin and extra MP and free CDR. Your welcome do run what ever you like thou.

I am by no means some master level Taric player but I found that item 3010 feels like a real power spike for survivability as the damage your taking turns into MP heal back said damage. I tried to make builds with item 3070 work but it never clicked for me. Again I am trying to chain that passive and Q into as much CDR as I can in fights so that playstyle impacts my builds.

Senna is annoying, like a lot of ranged champions with CC. Waiting for jungle is the easiest solution as Cind3rkick pointed out. If you have a window to engage off E because she got overzealous, you got position off bushes, or they went a little to far trying to trade/poke your ADC you can aim to get a bit of damage off. Odds are shes gonna nail the snare and run away. If your in a fight or trade, she CCs then her and the enemy adc are to far out of reach some times you should just turn to the nearest minion and start bashing it for CDR to give your ADC heals and try to get CDR on WE again. Try to walk between hits to close some distance. Potentially you can shave off 2-6 seconds CDR on WE, if your teammates under duress they should back at which point the gap to close lowers if they move in after them, Or your teammates a kill threat to them and they are fleeing for their lives at which point being able to land an E should make for a kill possibility. Either way its better then pointlessly running at folks outside of your effective range.

Don't max Q, the 5th stack is not really worth it as most cast patterns see Q used at 2 and 4 charges. The extra charge just seems a lot weaker then Splashed Armor and buffed shield (thou some times the 2% Target HP is less then 1% taric hp, you still need all 5 to ever see that where as the 2% is a gain for every cast and the Armor is a constant passive if they are in range.) Also I feel like the 40damage and 1 second CDR on E is a better option as well.

He's alright, but you have to play well to get the most out of him. Ult timing is a must.
