Just starting to play ranked after honing my skills somewhat in normal; what heroes would you suggest as a complement to the ones I already picked (in case I get counter picked beforehand)

Jax is actually a pretty well rounded melee champ. You want to complement him? You need more extreme and specialized champs meant for very specific jobs.
Ahri is an Assassin with CC and Lux is a tactical/utility mage. You may want to pick up DPS based mid laners and full carry/burst Assassins (the ones without CC). Yasuo or Azir fits the DPS part, and champs like Katarina and Talon are assassins completely dedicated to their damage.
You may want to pick up a tank based support, and then a true utility support. Thresh, Brau, or Leona are your typical tank supports and Sona and Soraka are more utility based champs.
Ezreal comes close to a jack of all trades champ what with his significant poke capabilities and all ins. Another case where you would just want to pick up very specialized champions if you really want to build a pool around him.
Do you mean champions that do similar things to the ones you play now, or champions that fill weaknesses that your current roster has?
More like filling weakness yes, not too interested playing a carbon copy more or less.
If you want a stronger engage you could use Jarvan IV for jungle or for top. Amumu is also a decent jungler with a strong engage.
