My conclusion about the Rengar changes

Edit: Changed the section on the Q to clarify more on what I meant by aim. Grammar. Detail on effective time to kill on ult.

I know, a Bronze five making a post like this, but as I have 82k worth of mastery on Rengo, I feel like I have the ability to post on this topic with some degree of confidence. The main problem with the new Rengo to me, is the W. Let me explain.

A Lot of people are complaining about the new passive, but when you actually think about it Rengo needs that thanks to the changes to his Q. The old Q could crit in addition to the scaling meaning that its potential damage was really high. Sure, the new Q has better scaling if you can land both hits, but a lot of that damage potential is gone because of the fact it can no longer crit, so the extra percentage AD is just to give us Rengo mains some of that damage we were missing out on back. Do I think it should be toned down a bit? Yeah, 30% feels a bit excesive, 25% I feel would be a better amount, and 35% for beating Kha'Zix feels about right.

The Q is pretty much how it used to be thanks to the bone tooth necklace changes, expect with a much longer cast time, inability to crit, and requires you to aim. As, if you miss the stab and just hit the arc you lose out on 50% of the damage. And, since both hits on the basic Q will scale with 70% of your AD you effectively will deal less damage than an AA if you miss the stab, and lose out on a potential 140% ad scaling. The empowered one has 110% ad scaling for both the arc and stab. Therefore, if you are getting attacked by Rengo provided you don't run in a straight line it isn't that hard to avoid taking the full damage of the Q.

Now the W. The problem is simple, its overloaded. Rengo's old W gave you this limited window in which you had that extra armor and MR to get rid of the APC and ADC without insta dying. However, being CCed meant that window could end up being wasted and end with you dying a horrible death. The new W gives you health back, and its empowered form breaks CC. Its a get out of jail free card that took away a main counter to Rengo, and I think RIot would of been better off keeping the Q how it was.

The E is the same as ever, move along.

The ult is an interesting case. Thanks to the eyes that show up the instant Rengo ults you really don't have any excuse if you end up being caught out by him, you had plenty of warning provided you are the closest to Rengo. What this means in effect is lets say you got the notification you are being spotted by Rengar's ulti 10 seconds before he gets there, and it takes Rengar .5 seconds to kill you once he arrives. That means in practice Rengar's time to kill in that scenario was 10.5 seconds, seeing as you were aware that Rengar was going to attack you a full 10 seconds before he got there. Plus, Rengo only crits if he attacks said marked target, so overall I feel as if the new Ulti keeps what us Rengo mains loved (and everyone else hated) about him intact, but gave everyone else a chance to react earlier and made peel even more effective against him as a result.

So that's just my two cents on the Rengo changes, please tell me what you think of the new Rengo in the comments. Also, please try to keep it civilized.

The passive and Q are the only things wrong with Rengar. It's completely situational, meaning that it's really feast or famine rather than something balanced. (yes everyone has had that 20/2 Rengar, but I've seen plenty of 0/10 Rengars as well) This shows that players either not skilled enough or unlucky getting the passive stacks will be really worthless. His W is actually quite healthy as sacrificing his empowered Q makes him lose a large portion of his damage... IF his Q didn't have a 2.8 second cooldown with 40% cdr! This is ridiculously low meaning Rengar sacrifices so little for survivability that it often empowered Q isn't needed to kill the enemy as 2Qs and a few autos are enough. This is where his problem lies. He's too safe when he's fed and too situational when behind.

They need to nerf his passive by reducing the scaling, but make the ability to gain stacks easier.

They need to nerf the cooldown of Q by 1-2 seconds, but slightly increase the base damage at higher ability level.

This would more or less fix his feast or famine-like nature.

"Q requires you to aim"

its 180 degrees, you could hit literally anything you want unless you aim in the total opposite direction.

I was specifically referring to the stab portion of it. If you fail to hit that you lose out on 50% of the damage, that is what I meant by aiming. Sorry if you interpreted it like that, I will edit the main post to clarify.

Imo,i don't find him op at all. I just want his passiv number to be lowered,i think it'sa bit too high considering he's going to build AD anyway.

Other than that,i don't feel bad even though i lost some games because Rengar was rampaging our team. But hey, this isn't some lcs or anything, people just move around the maps, get solo killed and cry about "unfair" after. They just don't adapt.

Just yesterday,i was watching my GF playing Support Sona. Her team get greedy on a poppy, overextend too much, use many ultimates etc.. and what happened ?Rengar came in and killed them all. What is wrong with that ?Dude is an asasssin, came in when there were barely any cc left and no peeling on the carries and killed them. Is that abnormal ?Of course not.Didn't stop them from crying than Riot games doesn't know how to balance the game blablabla..

Yes,rengar is strong but counter play exist,he doesn't have it easy either. When he starts snowballing he's a nightmare thanks to not only his kit but also the enemy team who tilts the face of the earth making his job even easier.
