Tiered LP loss or gain

Moved due to being in wrong section:

We now have the Ranking system it shows by in game standards how you fared in the game. This should be how we lose or gain LP

Players with better scores on the winning side should have higher LP games, while players with better scores on the losing side should lose LESS LP.

This would encourage better game play and cooperation, at least I would hope...

Examples

Winning Team S = 15 LP A = 10 LP B = 7 LP C - 5 LP D = 3 LP F = 1 LP (can you even get an F? )

Losing Team S = Lose 1 LP A = Lose 3 LP B = Lose 5 LP C = Lose 7 LP D= Lose 10 LP F = Lose 15 LP

The people who play safe, and do their jobs, will be lesser penalized and more rewarded. I think it would lead players to actually get to know their champs before just running to ranked, and it would also promote more thoughtful game play, no more overextending or chasing for days...if people know their scores will affect their LP gain or loss.

Also if your with a huge troll, they will quickly drop below your ELO so you don't have to play with them anymore.

Thoughts...

This would incentivize people playing purely to get the best score they can, to the point where they don't care about helping teammates and only fight if they know they'll get kills and won't die. It's not a fun sort of player to play with.

I dunno, i mean you still have to get objectives to win, so it will force some team play. Unless you are a smurf, you are not going to be able to 5 vs 1

Well, as a support main. I can firmly tell you.

I hate this idea.

The concept of " doing good " applies to carries.

Meanwhile I sometimes die for my teammates, sometimes I let them die. Sometimes I'm late to fights or I don't get any assists because the fight happens after I die and the time bracket is gone to get assists.

I shouldn't be punished with LESS LP because I did what my role was intended to do.

Some games I go 1/8/38 and some games I go 4/4/32

By your system I'd get 7 LP and then 15 LP, whereas now I get ~40 for two wins.

It doesn't help that the tanky/support roles get shafted because we didn't get kills or we didn't farm a lot ( Which is what the grading scale takes into account. )

Some games I do REALLY WELL as Bard or Naut, and get a B-A+, some games I do extremely well and I get an A-. Why should I suffer lower LP because I didn't get a good grade?

it should be tweaked according to the role you are playing, I play support as well, and it should grade more in that case for assists, wards placed / removed stuff like that.

I get S as support ALL the time. Your job isnt to die for your team - Its to keep them alive. If your team is constanly creating situations where you feel you need to suicide for them - they arent focusing towers and are focusing kill/teamfights which is not the objective of the game.

I love this idea! Take my upvote.

Yeah . . It just wont happen.

Do you mean LP (league points)? If so then I agree wholeheartedly, but the numbers should be tweaked a bit.

yeah sorry , ill go fix that

its a start but needs alot more planning, upvoted for a great idea tho.

Wouldn't work; sometimes you have to make plays and sometimes you have to make sacrifices to win the game. Either you win, or you lose. That's it. It would erode game play and cooperation, no one would play tanks or support anymore. It's about blowing up the nexus, not padding your scores and kda.

the ranking system is very flawed. like take ww top for free S take my downvote

Grades can be gamed fairly easily, though. They're meant to give a general idea of how you did, but what ultimately matters is winning. An afk farmer can catch a couple kills and get an S, but they weren't doing what they needed to do for the team so it loses. It also doesn't (and can't!) take into account saves and such (as support or tank many times).

If you put the emphasis on metrics instead of winning, people will just focus on the metrics. "Hmm...should I help top lane? Well, I'm 5/0 but I might lose my streak and S, so I'll go elsewhere." That's not how this game is meant to be played. You should take (calculated) chances and make decisions based on winning, not based on how it will affect your grade/kda/whatever. I've had a couple C graded matches where I had 3 Honorable Opponents given to me because I was a constant thorn to their team. I've had S matches on champs I only first played.

Edit: Also, grading is skewed if you play with different elo teammates. When I queue with plats, I generally get B-A (almost never an S). When I queue with silvers, I generally get A-S. This will just be abusable by higher elo'd players, and discourage lower elo players from playing with their friends because they will likely gain less or lose more LP.

my problem is, ill be doing well, get an S or an A , and yet I lose just as much LP as my bot lane that went 2/24 and fed Ashe 23 kills..that is where I have my problem, why should people who are doing well be punished for those who are just feeding.

Because it's a team game. If you're doing well, it's your job to help that lane. Not every game is winnable because of you, but below Plat, 80%+ are winnable based solely on your own performance and decisions. Put a gold into a bronze match and watch the sparks fly...you'll see 80-90% win rates easily (that's how boosters "work").

so do you leave your lane to help bottom, and let your lane just be taken? Cause that's what will happen.

If necessary, yes. I will trade one turret for shutting down a fed opponent and getting the lane back into the game. I would try to avoid that by pushing and roaming (or tp'ing if top), but one turret isn't worth letting a bad situation get worse.

Edit: Plus there's always the option of having the jungler cover the lane and/or swapping lanes.

Well, in theory, that bot laner will lose a crap ton in more games they play by feeding, and your one loss will become insignificant in the sands of time. If you are better than the average Joe, you will climb with a 55% win rate suprisingly quickly. If you are average or below average, you won't. Focus more on the long run than one game, if you are good enough you can beat the system.
