Riven Mid? Opinions?

I'm thinking of getting another champ for my pool. I play mid and secondary is jg.

I enjoy playing champs with higher skill caps, such as Zed, Shaco, and Leblanc. I enjoy champs with very strong snowball potential and strong lane phase. I enjoy playing champs with no mana (energy, etc.)

Would you guys think Riven mid is a viable choice? Is Riven a good counter to some of the meta's strongest mid laners?

Just need some opinions :)

Thanks

Pros of mid

  • squishier lane opponent
  • can take ignite comfortably instead of tp
  • harder to gank + no level 3 gank top (very important, as riven naturally pushes lane with aggression)

cons

  • shorter distance to tower
  • ad melee mid = no mage?

Riven is an okay mid, it gives her more roaming power, but she has more trouble killing her laning opponent due to the short lane and the safe farming distance allowed by most AP mids laners.

She's a good niche pick but not really reliable to first pick, since you could end up against something awful.

She is pretty good against most mages and melees in the mid lane. Can punish key mistakes and has pretty good wave clear lvl 1 to push in mages with no cost, so overall I think it is a good choice but if you don't get a lead or shut down your opponent laner you will get out scaled and will have to split push or something.

Um she's not good mid. She's best in jungle now and days as top is all about those tanks and juggernauts. Play her jungle, and you'll unlock her full snowballing potential. Trust me, she's best in jungle now. Get the warrior enchantment.

As for midding with her, she will suck against lots of those match ups, but she can win against a Akali, and a Yasuo. Maybe even a Kat.
