does ward combos still work

not too long ago you could place a pink and then place a stealth ward right next to it over the wall and it would create a stealthed pink ward great for seeing eve coming a mile away without her knowing

but with the removal of green wards I don't know if this still works and people are somehow seeing me around walls and corners and in bushes without actually having a pink around and I am wondering if they are just using this trick? or if my stealth is just buggy?
