Seeking Clarity on Support Smite issue.

Seeing alot of topics right now about people taking Smite outside of Jungle, it being an issue, and perhaps ban worthy. Could someone fill me in on what's been happening lately that's gotten this kind of reaction?

Basically, a Nunu player took smite as support, then spent hte game counter-jungling. Riot gave them the ban hammer because they weren't communicating with their team, just saying "hey i'm going this way. Live with it" and forcing them to adapt to an unconventional playstyle. Instead, people say that Riot demands they follow the meta and are saying that they are scared to do anything off-meta or else they'll get banned.

TL;DR, people are overreacting to a player creating a negative play experience and taking their teen angst out on riot.

There was a Nunu who consistently queues as "support," but in reality plays roaming support counterjungle Nunu to piss off the enemy team. However, the player is creating a negative experience for his team in-game (he ends up reported for the negative/frustrating team experience in 50% of his games, even the ones he wins). So, he recently got 14-day banned and told to improve his team interaction skills.

Riot response on the Nunu's thread: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/FrILlWp7-14-day-ban-because-playing-nunu-support-with-smite-is-stealing-other-peoples-roles?comment=00f0

If your adc manages not to die and bot goes even, he gets out of laning phase being a monster like 2 or 3 lvls over the enemy adc. Plus, the enemy jungler will starve and get far behind, probably enemy mid laner too because of being permaganked.

I dont think this strategy has something to do with the current state of the game, I guess it would work more or less in any season. Support leeching the adc is a BIG handicap. I've thought about that kind of strategies a lot, but unfortunately I'm not a skilled player plus I dont have the knowledge, so I guess I wouldnt make it work. Feels bad man.

Riot turned its fans into a bunch of pussies who'd rather report the counter-jg support than the 3/13/2 adc he just gave a free win

Nobody got banned for taking smite as a support. People have gotten banned for getting placed in the support role and not supporting.

This sound like the same case as with the Singed with smite support before...
