Katarina needs a rework, not because she's trash or anything, but they are trying to balance her between two extremes that are already unfair to give a champion. An extremely weak laning phase, and an extremely strong post-6. What she needs is to have her power levels meet in the middle. Take away power from mid-late game, and pump some of it back into early game

I agree she needs a rework, but not for the reasons you state above. I don't see what's wrong for a champion to have a weak laning phase and strong late game (hint: there are so many champions that are like this as well).

Katarina needs a rework because she is binary. You either kill all of the enemy team to get resets and kill them again or die instantly because you are squishy. Her power is almost completely loaded into her ultimate and her passive and thus the rest of her kit feels weak and not impactful. Rather than shifting her power from late game to early and mid game, they should unload some of the powers from her ultimate and consistently shift it to the rest of her kit, rather than binding her to her ultimate only.

It's not just a weak laning phase and a strong mid-late game. It's that both of those ends of her spectrum are SO extreme. first of all, it takes away from her consistency, and secondly, it feels really shitty when a kat gets going and just steamrolls you, which doesn't feel good to play against. Polarized game states are fine, but polarized gamestates of THIS kind of extremity are really hard to balance around

Build a little mr, she falls off really hard against it. She is a zero counterplay champion but she can be counter built.

Even silence is more useful on Katarina than most of the other champions.

The reason why you think she doesn't have counterplay is that she blinks fast and her most damaging ability deals crap load of damage in AOE, but most of the assassins are like this, albeit some of them being more single-target-oriented.
