FYI --- It is better to AFK and never come back than Disconnecting and Reconnecting to the same game

I thought I would share with you the results of an experiment. In order to test out Leaverbuster, all true AFK's were compared to those who disconnect, but reconnect later in order to see which would warrant a suspension first.

Much to my surprise, the account with the higher "leaver level" was the account wherein one disconnects but reconnects either immediately or within minutes. I can only hazard a guess as to why this is --- each individual disconnect counts towards your leaver level. This means that disconnecting and reconnecting to a game is apparently worse than just straight up AFKing.

On top of that, the account that actually tries to come back to a game it had disconnected from was struck with a larger suspension than the straight AFK account.

Anyway, I just wanted to give everyone a heads up in order to protect you from getting fucked out of the blue by a flawed system like this one.

Riot. Please respond to this post. I always wonder what I should do in this situation. I never know if I should be trying to reconnect or if I should just afk until w/e the problem is goes away.

I kept having the attempting to reconnect issue, where I could still see everyone moving around. every time it happend I would disconnect and then immediately reconnect because it was the fastest way to get back into the game. One time when trying to join back into a game I was banned for 24 hours because i was leaving a game too often.

What proof do you have of this? Numbers? Names? You might as well be blowing bubbles out of your ass, saying you made an experiment doesn't prove anything, except maybe that you're trying to make Riot look bad because you're butthurt about being hit by leaverbuster yourself.

I think what he's trying to say, the more you disconnect. The higher the probability leave buster system will detect you for afking.

I don't really support the idea much unless the OP went through the games and just randomly left and reconnected back. While maintaining a average CS/Kill/levels/ect

And even then the leavebusters made an error and you could just send in a ticket with your match history.

ACTUALLY! Even if there is a case where you were hit for no reason Riot Support is unable to lift LeaverBuster bans, or so I was told after getting slammed for leaving a game I played in.

If the OP had posted their actual methods for the experiment and the data gathered it would be a lot more believable. As it stands, it just sounds like someone who get banned by leaverbuster who is trying to discredit Riot instead of improving their behavior.

I decided to 'improve my behavior' aka Riot's third class service by switching to Dota 2. Where I have YET to get kicked out of a game or dced entirely.

I'd have gotten a full premade together in a co-op vs ai and a skype call if I wanted to do a test like this. Not really ruining anyone's game if they're all in on it, but as long is it isn't a custom Leaverbuster will still track your DC's.

Well that is good to know, Riot really should address that (under normal circumstances, it makes more sense to not punish someone who tries to stay in the game).

Awesome. I must have had the Attempting to Reconnect bug like 8 times in my last bot game. lol.. I can't even play bot games.. At least im doing it where it won't effect ppl in a negative way. At least I hope not. We have still been winning.

Either way, this is important for Riot to see.

If it is negatively impacting honest players who had connection issues, that's a real problem. As someone who has had to periodically deal with very unpredictable (rural Canadian) internet connection, it is deeply frustrating to let a team down. I hope there will be some way in the future to limit the impact on players whose d/c is out of their control. :)

In the meantime, nothing like winning a 4v5 outright after your jungler d/c's.

Wow thats fucking stupid I had to constantly reconnect due to the reconnect bug and when I afkd a twisted treeline game I got suspended for 3 days.

I think reconnecting to the game is pointless. Sure you can help you team out to win the game, but the LeaverBuster system confirms that you have left a game and so will increase your LeaverBuster Panelty level. In my opinion. It's useless.

This is actually true Lol. I should know. Most bans in the past season than every other season combined due to "LEAVING" more like 90-1k ping AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. lol riot trying to use "high traffic as an excuse"

I was up at 4 am this morning and play with 94 ping.(lowest traffic on riot NA is 3-5 am) I got 68 ping flat in season 1. No excuses. Expand servers. Fix issues. Kthx.
