Unbalanced teams

So, why does it seem like usually one team has high elo's while the other team has low elo's. Obviously one gets beat down, quickly. I think we should change the way league finds matches. I feel like I get pinned with lower elo's and expected to carry because I am slightly above them. Yet, I am pinned against higher elo's all around. Could just be me and my perception of the game, but I think something needs to be looked at.
