Health and Mana pings

Hi there,

I was discussing this in game the other day and wanted to see the general thought on it, I feel as if when you ping your mana in game, it should show the actual number, instead of x%.

I feel this way, because some champs have insane mana costs, like Nami's W, 115 mana for one heal, that's over 20% of her mana pool at the start of the game, and I want to make sure my team knows that. Only the person playing would truly understand that 10% mana really means 50 mana, and that I cannot heal my teammates because I don't have the mana to do so, despite what the 10% ping may say to others in the game who can't actually see it at a glance.

Any thoughts/input would be appreciated.

I think the reason why they express current mana as a percentage is because people wouldn't necessarily be able to tell how much mana you have overall without left-clicking you to check your total mana. Not every champion gains the same mana per level and some champs stack mana items while others don't. Plus you wouldn't really be able to tell if your ally had enough mana for a full combo or not unless you knew each of their mana costs anyway.

I was never sure why they expressed it as only percentages. That alone doesn't really convey enough useful information.

You can always ping the relevant ability that you can't afford to cast, which will send that as an alert, but the HP/MP pings really should provide a numeric value as well.
