I need help relearning this game because apparently I forgot how
(If you're lazy, scroll down to the tl;dr)
Fair warning, this is poorly written and formatted. It's a jumbled mess of thoughts and questions, but I sincerely hope I can get some feedback.
I was born a mid main which transitioned into a support and jungle main but what with the way ranked works now, I just find myself not able to play mid anymore. Top feels awkward, though very doable most of the time, jungle is just straight up awesome ganks or literally no ganks due to my laners being pushed into tower/hyper escape people or people with range so long they can sit under mid turret.
To be clear, this isn't a troll post, I legit just want some tips. I used to coach people all the time and it suddenly feels like I'm unfamiliar with the game. I know what all champs do, and heck, I even know a lot of base stats, ratios, damage, and cooldowns, but something about the game feels very different. I'd almost say overall players seem to have improved and become more aware, but with that there seems to be even more toxicity. I just finished playing a game where the trio decided to bad the solo top's riven out of spite. The jungler got mid but decided they needed to jungle because they were a quote "jg one trick who will go singed mid if they don't get it" (paraphrased). So I went Brand mid and pretty much farmed for a huge portion of the game until I followed Ori down to mid and helped our jungle with some invades. Eventually orianna got fed and was just 2 shotting mostly everyone. I felt rather useless since I could rarely get off my combo on anyone due to the nature of ori being fed alongside the fiora who the toplaner excessively fed. Granted, the trio continuously flamed him and he flamed back. I tried to stay neutral and simply stated how useless I felt to which one of the trio essentially said I should just build ap and everything would be all right.
So I'm confused. First off, my mechanics and farming aren't what they used to be. I tend to fall behind by about 10-15 cs per 50 that my enemy laner has. I also struggle to get early kills, instead opting for farming. This sometimes leads to me getting cheesed since early game simply feels so strange for me in mid and top both. As a jungle Lee/Jax/fighters in general, ganking early just simply doesn't happen anymore for me. I'm often unable to do it unless the laner helps set up the gank like a blitz support or a mid with innate stun/snare like lux. When I support, I often feel useful when ahead and helpless when behind due to support items feeling just outright feast or famine. Sometimes I save someone/set up a kill, but from behind it just feels oh so bad. I don't do adc too much, but I feel moderately comfortable in the role save for my cs needing work.
But yeah, people flame eachother as targets, but not individual who are neutral. I'm not complaining, but it felt really strange that that teammate got so amazingly singled out and picked on. I tried to be supportive and whatnot, but it didn't seem to help considering they continued going in after dying 7 previous times and only ever getting one kill and assist.
Riot claims they don't like snowball, but it seems worse than it ever was. I've noticed a few games ago that turrets simply are trash. I was only health stacking on a mage and I was tanking both nexus turrets for my team as they dove. That's just silly. I only had 2.5k hp and must've tanked at least 6 or 7 shots before I was low ish.
And despite all this, I've still been having a decent bit of fun which my friends struggle to believe, but I really have. It's fast paced and not boring generally.
Oh, and as a side note, I'd like to complain about the comparison of blue to red bot side jungle clearing. If I clear red and krugs, the enemy red side jungle will clear wolves, blue, gromp and be level 3 in the same amount of time it took for me to be level 2. This has driven me nuts virtually every game since I'm required to do an unhealthy clear at raptors or clear scuttle to get 3 which really isn't too safe. By the time this is done, it's often tough to gank bot from not having a level difference/ the lanes are strangely pushed. Ganking mid from blue side bot start also results in the mid being level 3 which also takes away the old ganking advantage junglers had early on. I can more or less comprehend why they did this to krugs given the gold you get, but it's really quite hampering. Maybe I'm just clearing badly, so if there's a specific order to clearing krugs or something, please fill me in. Having a new mouse and understanding all the little nuances is hard enough without the game changing in strange ways. I've played since Season 3, but lately I've felt like a stranger.
TL;DR, I'd like some tips on improving somehow. You'd have to read the post to understand all of it, but playing lanes feels awkward and jungle ganking doesn't seem to happen.
