How to be a good team leader?

Hello guys. Me and my team seem to have a big problem when it comes to communication and team play. We are all more or less Plat players, and we are playing a tournament in our country. So far we are not doing so good, we have 2 wins and 4 losses. We all agreed that our main problem is communication during the game, even though we all talk through Discord, we still play like in a solo/duo game. I am the team captain, but to be honest I am not sure what to do and what decisions to make during the game. I just know we can deal with much better players (by rank), at least early to mid game, but we simply lack positioning/team play in order to win. My question is, is there any piece of advice you guys can give me? What should I focus on as a captain/top player? Is it better for one role or another to lead a team? How can we all improve as a team? All opinions are welcome, thank you.

As a team leader you have to make macro shotcalls for your whole team, which requires you to notice every progression your mates do and plan ahead for objectives. Also you as a team have to decide who the team leader should be, because not everybody might be good in that. You could try to rotate that task around everybody when you practice and see if someone shows promise to do that job. Than you proceed to train him to be good shot caller.

First of all, the best shotcall position is jungle/support, to lesser extent mid. Top is the most isolated role and can't watch the situation well enough and make quick decisions. I don't have any experience leading, but I know leadership theory. First you need to identify/set level of control. For example, do you always shotcall ? or do you trust them some part ? which part ? Examples of level of control is delegating, when you basically make it up to your teammates to decide in some actions (identify which) ; telling is when your teammates strictly follow what you say, no more, no less; participative, when you develop skills of your team and outline the goal to be achieved; there is also supportive style, but it is for unwilling team. Once you set level of control, you need to stick to it. Then you need to always take and encourage feedback from your team to correct mistakes and implement new good suggestions. Shotcaller usually plays easy mechanics champions, or ones not requiring attention. Usually it is tanks, if you play carry champions it is hard to shotcall.

I need to go now, I will add some more if I can recall more theory.
