Sona disruptively over powered

With the current pro meta of teams picking Sona Taric to dominate team fights in the mid to late game I find myself questing "Why does this work so well?". We don't see Taric paired with any other enchanter or mage supports. Sona however seems to have insane winrates on soloque paired with many champions u.gg. So you don't think that is enough evidence of Sona being more than a tad too strong? There is a North American soloque player named The Tank Man infamous for spamming thousands of soloque games abusing the most broken and mind numbing champions. Guess who he's playing this season? op.gg In conclusion, Rito please this champion is not ok.

Ps. Nothing personal against The Tank Man, live your dream bud

he can barely play her, the items on her are just plain depths of stupidity.

Sona has needed a rework for a long time but she's incredibly difficult to rework. She was all about the aoe abilities and items, but Riot has removed so many of those aoe items but Sona's identity is aoe. If Riot wanted to keep her identity, reworking her is all but impossible. They've nerfed her repeatedly - I believe she has the most nerfs in the entirety of League - and she's still a problem.

She's easy to play, but if she gets caught she's all but guaranteed to be dead, her health bar is as good as non-existent in an attempt to make up for her poke and aoe utility. Her poke requires her to just be in range of a champion briefly, then she can just go back about her business. There's little skill in that save for "Don't get hooked".

I enjoy playing her when I feel like it, but even I can acknowledge she's a problem. Reducing her health, armour and MR and increasing her spell cooldowns only does so much. She needs an overhaul, but that's such a difficult thing to do for her because of her identity.

She's been gutted so no, I don't think she needs nerfs. She's a mage that scales HARD to the late game, which she sacrifices for a weak as shit early game. I think the pros are only taking advantage of this situation because Taric provides a ton of utility and invulnerability, so the two pair well together. Doesn't mean she needs nerfs.

I win quite a bit with Sona because people don't know how to close out games. It's nerve wracking to play her though. Practically CC less pre 6. Close range ult when you die to a sneeze. The gimmick of Sheen into lich bane is only worth it if you confirm they have no idea how to punish you. I have opted to simply stacking tear instead. With tear I can somewhat spam the W for my ADC. Otherwise... if they know how to punish you, you can't reasonably poke and are pretty useless to your ADC until like level 11. I could argue Lux is even a better support pre 11.

But Sona scales. Like harder than any other support. Like I often wish Soraka scaled this well (though I doubt anybody else actually wants Soraka to be that strong).

I'd like to see how Sona pans out after they implement a limit to gold generation items interactions with each other, I feel that this is the main problem

The other thing is that Sona has basically emerged as a carry and people have (FINALLY) figured out that giving Sona gold and xp basically wins games, but that drawback comes at a slower scaling carry for a stronger+team amplifying one

I don't think it's possible currently to stop Sona from being the "ultimate scaling champion" without either gutting her and leaving her on life support, or a rework in general I have always seen Sona as a good amplifying support, the more powerful she gets the more powerful her team gets, she is really the only support who has "backwards priorities" because most other supports are all about earlygame and snowballing the carry

I called a while back saying Sona would never be viable in pro-play as a support, she is too useless at the critical points of the game as a support in that setting that she has 0 place...however this isn't the case for Sona in the carry position, who can basically do almost everything that ADC's do but also churns out a ton of teamwide support

Sona is boring and bursty. But her healthbar is a joke.
