Is Ekko expected to be activated today?

Last few times we've had new champs they've been released on the same day as the patch!

Actually that is wrong. Most patches are tuesday night (wednesday morning, technically) and champ releases generally happen on Thursday (Riot has even said this themselves), and then they get put into the champ rotation 2 rotations later ( usually 2.5 weeks) unless they're as buggy as Azir was on release and it's an extra week added on. BUT, your question is still valid seeing how today is actually thursday.

Yes, i am aware that most of this is useless, totally unneeded, and possibly unwanted information, but i just woke up and I'm so excited for Ekko so i am a little hyper o;

Source? The server service announcement is Tuesday, followed that day or the next by the patch notes, both of which proceed the patch. To the best of my knowledge, Thursday has been when the patch actually goes live for a while.

I'd expect Ekko to be available before the weekend, either today or tomorrow.

My main source being the over 2 years that I've been playing, most likely lol. As for the '2 rotations later (usually 2.5 weeks)' part, I saw a red say that one a while back, sometime around the Kalista release, as people were speculating as to how buggy she would be in comparison to Azir.

I should change what i said though, slightly. Riot tries to put out patches on Tuesdays, however like most online games, things happen and it occasionally gets delayed. However, champion releases ( the day you can actually purchase the champ) is almost always a thursday ( excluding Azir's buggy rear end)

OK, just looked through a handful of server maintenance posts on Surrender @ 20:

Patch 5.1 - Thrusday Morning
Patch 5.2 - Wednesday Morning
Patch 5.3 - Wednesday Morning
Patch 5.4 - Wednesday Morning
Patch 5.5 - Thursday Morning
Patch 5.6 - Wednesday Morning
Patch 5.7 - Wednesday Morning
Patch 5.8 - Wednesday Morning
Patch 5.9 - Thursday Morning
Patch 5.10 - Thursday Morning

So of the 10 patches since Season 5, 4 have been on Thursday, 6 on Wednesday.

As for Champions (again, using S@20 posts on champion availability:

Braum was made available on a Monday
Gnar was made available on a Wednesday
Azir... well, we'll just agree his launch was rushed for the Shurima event.
Kalista was made available on a Wednesday
Rek'Sai was made available on a Thursday
Bard was made available on a Thursday

If Ekko's not available Today, it probably won't be until next week.

I've personally been going by the release dates on the League Wikia. But seeing how this is all irrelevant now, seeing how he's out now, i bid you good day~

Actually when they have their schedule going properly it looks like this:

Monday: Server announcement Tuesday: Patch Notes, along with PBE update cycle Wednesday: Patch live.

when they have a delay, like this week with Memorial Day being on Monday: Monday: Nothing Tuesday: Server announcement Wednesday: Patch Notes, along with PBE Update Cycle Thursday: Patch

Jsut checked randomly, and he's out. Already in game with him XD. No announcement on the front page yet, though when i bought him adn his skin, it said something about restarting client after buying each of them, so i did, thinking the announcement would be on the launcher and login page but Shrugs
