The butchering of a metal man.
Hello everyone I doubt this will get much attention but i'll write it up anyways I would say, collectively, i've played 5000-5500 games with Mordekaiser. Malcom Gladwell once wrote that "it takes roughly ten thousand hours of practice to achieve mastery in a field". Assuming each game lasted half an hour, i'm just over a quarter of the way there. I'm not writing this to inflate my ego, that's boring. I am trying to make a point that I (probably) understand the ins and outs of this champion who has a small and dedicated player base in a game with a very solid meta better than the vast majority. Mordekaiser definitely needed changes, and I personally think Riot hit home base on nearly all of his abilities. If you want to turn him into a bruiser, by all means, go for it. The empowered 3 hits on his new q is great, the added 25 range on e is noticeable, the dragon addition to the ult is a little over the top but whatever floats your boat, my and most every other morde players issue is with his w. Let's talk about marketing. Say you have a product, a granola bar. This granola bar is not like other granola bars, sure this one can be eaten by many people the same as many other granola bars but the wrapper says "peanut free" meaning people who are intolerant to peanuts can eat this one without flaring up and dying. I feel that if i left it to you guys, you would look for every possible means of making that granola bar taste like it has peanuts without actually putting peanuts in it, but failing to do so and ending up with a drawer full of lawsuits and murder charges for giving in last second. Mordekaiser is being marketed as a bruiser, but in the fine print, the very small number of us peanut intolerant morde players, though dedicated to this niche product, were hit with a "by the way, you don't get a w unless you're in a duo lane and you take all the cs". Not only did you force the champion out of his natural lane, alienating an entire player base of solo laners, you also force him to take the farm, basically meaning your team will not have a marksman late game unless you can get someone to play another bruiser with you while you convince someone to go vayne or draven top. Good luck in solo q. Though the health gain on proc is a great idea for a health consuming caster, a change I would suggest is to keep the w cast to an ally optional, chuck the xp gain nonsense and, let's be real, even a 25% movement slow on ending it would not only keep bot lane mordekaiser playable, but you wouldn't butcher his solo lane potential and, considering the brilliance that was the health return, you might even see him in the jungle. Now, I don't speak for all morde players when I say this but, the novelty in playing him was mainly in the shield, not the ghost. I understand that the given reason so far has been "if he had cc in combination with his ult, it would be too op" and to this I say "nerf the ghosts numbers". When I ghost someone, all my abilities are on cool down anyways. I usually just push it forwards to fill my shield while I loiter for 5 seconds to refresh. Again, I doubt anyone important will read this, actually I doubt anyone at all will, but if you do, please consider it. Oh, last thing, as i find little entertainment in playing other champions, i am actively refusing to play, should the w changes remain the same when the update hits live. "who cares, another scrub threatens to quit" Sure, i'm a scrub and only 1 out of 75 million but hey, I play for joy, why should I bother myself when something is no longer fun? TL:DR - let me use my w outside of duo lanes, chuck that xp idea, it wont work in solo q without explaining to the marksman and MAYBE add a slow on proc for jungle viability, nerf ghost damage, cut it in half even. Thank's for reading, if you did.
