What is the point of playing this game?

One day the servers will close and the game will be gone from everyone's computers. It is not like other games where even 30 years later you can still play it. All the money you spend on it is fleeting and so is the ranks you get and all the achievements. In 20 years what will we be looking back at? it is not like Skyrim that will always be with you forever. So go and buy Skyrim, play Skyrim, it will never abandon you.

Dude. EVERYTHING will vanish one day. Every religion and faiths tells us so, the very laws of the universe say so. The world and universe as we know it will not exist tomorrow.

well... same arguement can be said with call of duty online games or online only games. why play them if its gonna be gone one day. thats pretty much what you should be saying.

Starcraft Brood War was killed off by Starcraft 2 yet to this day I could still log on to the very servers I played on at peak popularity. I'm pretty sure League servers would be around for the next 40 years. And if Riot does close down their official servers one day, you can bet 100% that the open source community will make it possible for people to host their own by cracking the protocols and such. ICCUP is an example of a Starcraft Brood War server that is hosted by a third party.
