Hey guys, I was wondering if I should buy katarina or lux. I love both burst assassins and immobile mages. I was thinking in terms of who is more fun(not repetitive), better in this meta, and better at carrying me through ranked. Also, I was wondering if their were any other better 3150 champs for mid. Plz write why you chose your champion not just "pick kat, gg"

Lux, imo. Katarina is very easily shut down in fights. Lux has great burst damage if you can land her combo and tremendous AoE and she's particularly effective in choke points/small areas. Lux is pretty good through platinum but will fall off somewhat the higher you get. Katarina will snowball harder and probably can stomp lower elo easier but if you can stop her ult late game she's pretty much worthless. Also I always rate champs with CC higher than those that don't. Lux also has some awesome skins and the best personality in the game for a champ.. it's hard not to like her :)
I think Anivia is 3150, but Anivia is one of the safest mid picks cause of her good cc aka her q, her w for tanks, and her passive of course.
I played alot of lux before I played Kat. But I stuck with Kat because I found her playstyle to be much more fun.
That along with her higher skill ceiling, you'll get your time's worth out of her if you're looking to climb.
If you're looking for fun, then Katarina by a mile. In terms of meta and carry potential, neither of them are exactly FoTM at the moment. Katarina definitely has the ability to carry if you really know what you're doing, though.
Lux if you're good at skill shots, Katarina if you prefer mobility/initiate.
