I've seen a few threads complaining about 1 shots and how they want the tank meta back because right now it's a lethality meta.
Armor counters Lethality.
If you play Maokai against a full Lethality team they will have the worst time killing you late game and you will be able to disrupt them so easily.

Lethality works best against squishies .
50 lethality vs a 60 armor target reduces it to 9 percent damage reduction from 37.5 percent reduction.
250 to 200 is 71 percent damage reduction to 66 percent damage reduction. Armor makes a difference vs lethality.
Maokai hasn't enough armor, go for rammus and reach your 200 armor before your first item.
