Can we please have an autofill opt out?

Autofill is really a pain -- I'll get 3-4 games in roles I know and enjoy, then I'm forced to be a meta slave in a role I never queue for. This is a seriously anti-fun mechanic, and since it doesn't look like this forced meta is changing any time soon, can I at least opt out and take the longer queue times? I'd much rather have 5-10 minute queue pops for a role I enjoy than a 2 minute queue for a role I have no fun in.

Maybe at least lower the dodge penalty to -1 LP if you're autofilled? Please?

Ques don't become "5-10 mins longer". They increase exponentially.

Look at que as top/mid. The first person to que that gets a game. The second person has to wait another 30 seconds to get a game. The third person in line has an extra one minute to get a game. The 50th person gets to wait an extra 25 mins to get a game. Imagine being in que for 25 mins and suddenly look away for 11 seconds and miss the afk check then have to wait that whole time again. Imagine how frustrating that'll get having that wait time every game. I'd rather play support 5% of the time than have to wait that every game.

You do realize your calculation assumes games cannot start simultaneously, right? This model is not correct.

How would when the games start factor in? I'm assuming games start immediately as soon as there are 10 players who can fill all positions and are in the current acceptable mmr range.

back prior to season 6 we had what was known as "pick order' you all randomly got put in champ selection... the 1st pick got to ban all 3 bans... and each side took turns picking as we do now... there was no role selection prior to accepting game as their is now.. and based on what order you were put in in champ select is how you got preference of role... say if you were 1st pick you got to chose what ever role and champ you wanted... 2nd pick gets to pick from whats left... 3rd and so on...

now when it got down to where the one side picks 4 and 5 they had to be civil and let one pick before the other or talk and ask what role the preferred out of whats left and on the side where last pick picked by himself got forced to fill whatever role was left for him

this is how it worked for all seasons prior to season 6... meaning being forced to fill was still a thing and every one had to do it... and back then you were expected to be able to play at least one champ in each role...

90% of the time the last pick was forced to be a support. and this before trinkets and sighstone so actually had to use your slots for actual wards and they cost gold, 75gold for green and 100 maybe 125 for pink wards ? i cant remember the cost exactly.

so this was the system most of people honored and lived by... there were trolls and it created toxicity.

but based on this system what roles do you think got picked 1st most of the time? yes thats right MID and TOP so most were forced to jungle before jungle was cool or support.

autofill will not go anywhere... learn to accept it... learn to play more then one role and one champ and all of league and the player base will be better for it...

I play 3/5 roles proficiently, and the main reason I don't play bot lane is that I just don't enjoy the playstyle. I'm glad other people do, but I'd just prefer not to be forced into it to the detriment of myself and my team.

why not have one of them u play work as an ap support?

im not saying be a support main... im saying just have one champ u can play so if you get that role you can play that game... every one is effected by autofill

and prior to this when season 6 1st came out high tier elo would have to wait 30mins + up to 2 hrs for games

there is a clip of berj on stream waiting 2 hours for a game...

its a necessary evil

wanna know a trick though? ( assuming you want not to have to be autofilled in rank ) go play a normal game for "warm up" choose FILL and just play whatever role your next game you are autofill protected... and go play rank and put mid/jungle or whatever two you main... (not bot /support apparently) and you will get it.

i have also notice ( cuz alot of the time ill chose fill every game) that ill get auto fill protection for 3,4 games after cuz i filled so many games

That's my problem with autofill -- it doesn't get to the ROOT of the issue, which is that a large proportion of the player base does not enjoy the support role. Riot has taken strides to make it more interesting, but the fact still stands -- a lot of people don't like support. Forcing people to play the role is a pretty sad band-aid to that problem, and has personally resulted in nothing but frustration.

Rotate a game of support into your life and enjoy having fill protection. This way your still gona get 3-4 games you know and enjoy and your meta slave role is something you choose and can prepare for reducing arbitrary losses.
