Midlane vs Malzahar, Play Ahri Xerath or Ziggs.

Keep him at range, Play your sustain well and constantly poke so he cannot put up his shield, also, lots of AoE to kill his voidlings

There is so much more to Counter malzahar than simply spellshields and tanking his E.
