Problems with the rank shielding?

I logged in to play a few games after not being on all day, before hand the rank shielding was not floating above my rank as I was exploring my profile before I accepted a match. Two games later and both being wins I am suddenly being shielded? I don't exactly understand why I am being shielded now when it would have made more sense earlier when I was at 0 lp and hadn't just won two games.

If someone could clarify what's up with this I'd appreciate it.
