Dude what the fuck am I reading? You just lost all credibility in determining what's a viable off meta pick or not. Not taking a support item is 100 times better than not taking smite. You are outright throwing if you don't take smite in the current jungle.

I mean, if he's actually playing support Urgot he's fine. It's genuinely an OK pick.

High base damage.
AOE slow, fling, single target slow, AOE fear.
Tank busting ult.
Fast ward clearing.
Poke.

It's surprisingly effective.

If he's just going botlane Urgot when he's been put into the support role, then yeah fuck him.

If they're playing the role as intended no you cant report them. You can still be a support and ward with trinkets even if you dont work on a sightstone item.

Sightstone has been build into the supports gold income item so you can't be a support without it.

ok, in this case its kind of a sketchy gray area. define "going urgot support"

riot has a strict policy against enforcing a meta, so by technicality picking urgot into the support role is in fact not a punishable offence, no matter what he decides to build. it only becomes reportable when every single one of your other teammates is against it, and he purposely does so anyway (take a look at that singed player who got banned a while back, vs the inting sion thing. in one case his team was against it, the other is an acceptable part of the meta)

but by the sound of it, if he gets pissed that youre kinda feeding, then that strongly implies he was playing to win, so can therefore get off scott free.

but if by "mad at you" you mean all out flaming then you can report him for verbal abuse though.

You can report but riot won't give a fuck. They put a zed who goes full ad as my support in my promos and 3 people who picked first time champions on top, jungle and mid. I reported and provided screenshots, they couldn't care less. They should just ditch being a game developer and transit to being a music videographer, song choreographer and VR entertainment specialist.

I've won plenty of match with non typical supp champ as supp. One huge issue I see is the adcs that aren't used to dual lane. They need to think about their positioning and catch chances. troll pick and troll playing are two different things.

They are the same thing to different degrees.

The problem is that riot has made "viable" such a narrow definition. If riot was doing their job right, then "trolling" should be something like playing AP Urgot, not support Urgot. It should be nearly impossible to troll if riot was designing their game well, not because they'd quickly ban players for doing it, but because there wouldn't be such a massive disparity.

Personally I don't think this pre-season will change much about this imbalance of build/role viability, because it's not the kind of thing that was brought about by a particular pre-season, it's years of iterative changes to the game that have just been making things increasingly worse and a design philosophy that neglects off meta.

But let me make this clear for the egotistical entitled players in the back. If Support Urgot is, or you consider it to be, nothing but Trolling, then riot is at fault for making the existing "meta" options so much more powerful than EVERYTHING ELSE. As well, agreeing with the current meta options doesn't make you right, but riot's continued (intentional or otherwise) appeasement of your opinions makes you arrogant.

I've seen the double int strategy.

It's actually genius, because it takes advantage of the player mindset that riot has incubated, juxtaposed against their game design which is mostly just a lot of short term solutions to fundamental compatibility issues with the old design vs the new designs that have arisen over the years.
