Riot should be more careful with reworks.

Recent reworks with especially Irelia, Akali and Aatrox made them fucking god tier at pro play and high elo game play. Riot shouldn't just pass a rework normally like candy. Take your time. Account the people who play the champion, pro play and high level solo Q. Don't just say "We can't satisfy everyone." Your not satisfying a lot of people right now with your reworks. Existing old mains hate the Akali and Aatrox reworks since they literally just slapped the name and that's it and even if they love the new kit, they get nerfed over and over while being broken tier in High Elo and Pro Play. Then get gutted like Akali removal heal, 8.24b nerfs of shroud and no turret stealth (I actually don't mind that nerf).

Just be careful, I don't want other communities to get fucked by reworks.

Missed Kayle ? :P

As someone who has pretty much onetricked Talon since s3, I have to say that champion reworks are just horrible ideas in general. I went from having an exploitable weak laning phase and having to play the vision game well for surprise AoE oneshots, to someone who prays for the enemy to make the mistake that lets me cheese first bloods, and brainlessly runs past all wards with item 3147 +item 3364 to kill only one person regardless of how fed I am.

Well, atleast there is one glimmer of hope, once a champion is reworked (and his name isn't Ryze) he won't get reworked again in the near future. I am fine as GP, Darius and Aatrox player. :3

Yeah I'm not sure what was going on last year. I would say that overall, reworks have been massively successful for the game but Irelia, Akali, and Aatrox were abominations. I still think Swain and Nunu were incredible, Ezreal was annoying but that was because of all the shit they kept from his old kit so I can't really blame the rework for him. I think Kayle is going to have an issue as well. Kayle's old kit was nerfed into the dirt because she had an easy ladder to become a hypercarry that could literally 1v9 the entire game, but when they reworked her for whatever reason they didn't change this aspect of Kayle and her late game is insane again (it was basically deleted on old Kayle for the longest time).

I'm just hoping when Mordekaiser comes out he doesn't have these issues. Mordekaiser is a champion I've been waiting to be good since the season 5 rework and honestly even before then he was kind of a cheesy pick to spellvamp forever while you nuke people, not super good. I'll be very disappointed if Riot doesn't take into account his unique mechanics, leading him to be insane at high levels of play so he gets nerfed like most of last year's rework roster.

I remember when sion, poppy, and warwick got reworked everyone was excited to have their favorite champion reworked. Now people are just praying their champ isn't next on the chopping block.

Posterchilds of failed reworks: Mordekaiser and Malzahar and Zac

The story of Mordekaiser is well known. Malzahar and Zac were functional champs with decent pickrates and dedicated playerbase prior to their reworks, now they are shadows of their former selfs. Malzahar's passive has been nothing but toxic in every eelo and Zac has disappeared from the game all together.

I know opinions on this one differ but I see Taric as another huge fail. Ever since his rework he can't solo lane any more and he has been nothing but a walking boost of stats for teammates. He has been proven to be problematic in all sort of goldfunnel strategies. He also only has 1 ability that interacts with the enemy and his ult is the pinnacle of non-interactivity.

The biggest problem is that with each VGU they create two champions that cannot coexist.

Some updates respected the original champion (Heimerdinger) and didn't really cause much of a stir, and some of the replacement VGU's were necessary (Sion).

Then you have shit like Aatrox, Zac, and Galio. All of them had their playerbase. The new ones don't appeal to the same playerbase, so the old players are upset. You'll piss off the old players happy as long as you have the new one, you'll piss off the newer players if you change them to something more like the old one, and "having both" isn't really an option.

They need to respect the original design with more of these reworks. They're changing things that don't need to be changed just for the sake of change.

the problem with reworks seems to be that the counterplay to em is "the guy piloting it will make mistakes" rather than having actual counterplay, this kinda makes sense since it guarantees that the champion will see pro play and wont be insane in soloQ but ya know, not very good in the long run.

Irelia rework was problematic but they balanced her, she's not a problem anymore.

Aatrox and Akali are still problematic however

Zac At least the Akali and Aatrox mains can still play their champs in a lane without being reported for trolling.
