Who is the best Tank?

So I've been trying to find the strongest tank and the best build for them, Out of all 34 tanks who really is the biggest and baddest? and what is the best tank build against both a strong AD team and a strong AP team?

I should note that a large chunk of the champions you noted are designated Fighters. You should never pick Garen for example if your team needs a Tank to defend squishies.

Anywho, is there a specific or even general job you need them for? All the Tanks and Fighters are specially suited for different scenarios, so trying to ask "which one is the best" is really going well out of your way to compare apples to oranges.

I actaully main Garen as a Tank and alot of the times i end up the only tank and do very well because how tanky he can get, and with just black cleaver he is able to tear down other tanks quite easy but i agree he shouldnt be the only tank and i am trying to get away from using him as a tank which is why i asked this question

Okay I think you missed the point.

Fighters and Tanks are differentiated largely by their job. You do not pick a Tank to tear down other tanks, that is a job for (certain) Fighters like you cite with Garen. You largely can not defend your allies using a Fighter, because they often lack the tools to defend teammates adequately, like Garen.

I'm asking what job you want to do with your champions. You're mixing in Fighters with Tanks which quite frankly makes no sense, but other people around you can help you figure out which champion you want to use if you tell them what job you want to do. Do you want strong map presence while still defending your allies? That is Shen's job. Do you need ridiculous amounts of AOE CC potential? Look towards Nautilus, Sejuani, or Amumu. Do you need to actively defend allies from threats? Try Braum. Tell us very specifically what job you want to do and you will get a competent answer for your question.

I need someone who can take a lot of hits without dieing but doesn't lack in the DMG department, Someone who can initiate a fight and be up front but isn't just a shield for the team. A late game champion for team fights

and again I will remind everyone that I understand some of these champions and built in a fighter or mage style but everyone I listed is listed because they have a Primary roll as Tank

Pick up a Juggernaut.

The 4 upgraded Juggernauts are the immediate highlights, though the original Juggernauts like Volibear or certain Dive Fighters like Vi should also be on your list of champions to look out for.

It terms of absorbing damage. Maokai or alistar due to their percent damage reduction. Malphite also gets pretty nuts in the armor department. IMO these tanks also have the best abilities for all around utility, excluding damage.

You forgot taric, he has a really hard time dying.

I finish taric with item 3401 , item 2049 , item 3222 , item 3110 , and item 3111 .

Last one is optional depending on the enemy builds.

I never see people build item 3222 on him.. This item literally makes it so he can stay in the field forever.

Ahhhh The support taric build, very nice. Been a while since i have seen it. For my taric build, i go more damage/ Tank oriented item 3075 item 3025 item 3158 item 3065 item 3190 item 3001 Most of the time my teamates love this build. (Standard one) It changes based on Enemy teams tho.

Thank you for that, I listed everyone with a primary roll as tank without thinking of the Champions with Secondary rolls as Tank

You listed quite a few bruisers. For example, Renekton, Darius, Wukong, they're all bruisers. Wukong can even be built as a melee carry.

Different tanks have different roles, too. Malphite is great at initiation and taking 0 dmg from AD champs, Gragas is good a peeling and making picks, Alistar is good at CCing everything and being unkillable, etc.

malphite is great throughout the game, least item dependent.

Rammus rammus has the highest potential for raw damage mitigation, in addition to punish attack speed stackers.

Maokai maokai is most team useful.

and Sejuani sejuani is the best initiator by far.

Sion sion can reach infinite HP, which is nice.

DrMundo mundo and Garen garen are great for health regeneration and re engaging, or they shine in prolonged fights.

personally i like rammus, counteracts those 100% AD teams.

Zac is the best. Gap closer to engage, Aoe cc, good Aoe dmg (even to tanks due to %hp) while building full tank, sustain, wave clear... And the passive to bait enemies (turret dives, teamfight engages with 100 hp...)

TahmKench Braum Blitzcrank Amumu Alistar DrMundo Galio Leona Malphite Maokai Nautilus Rammus Sejuani Chogath Shen Singed Thresh Zac Taric Are the Actual champions in the League. Everyone else you listed are fighters who can be BUILT tanky As for the BEST 1, it depends on who you are fighting/ who your teamates are. PERSONALLY, my favorite tanks are Galio Maokai DrMundo Shen Taric TahmKench So PERSONALLY, Those are the best tanks in the game. Although i would say that Galio is the best because of hit kit. making you benefit greatly to building Magic resist/Guardian angel and ZZ Rot for Armor.

Alistar is probably the best tank. Once he hits R, he's almost immune to damage. He has two forms of cc that tenacity won't reduce. He can sustain himself and his allies. His W-Q combo is a Malphite ult.

Unfortunately his kit is old and outdated, meaning mana issues and long CDs restrain a lot of his power.

Aatrox isn't a tank. Vladimir Is a mage.

Overall I'd have to say Tahm, Zac, or Shen. As generalist tanks.

do you know what Vladimir passive is? the more AP he has the tankier he gets, so yes you build him full Mage but he is still a Tank/Mage, plus when you do build Aatrox like a tank he is a VERY good tank and still delivers a ton of DMG, i suggest you watch it and youtube and see for yourself

Aatrox is a terrible tank. You have to build some damage at least, like Hydra or BOTRK. If you don't you don't heal for poop and you don't do any damage compared to Jax, Olaf or Irelia with unreliable utility.

Vlad no. He isn't a tank/mage. He is just a mage. You scale like a carry into late game and you kill people. Your goal isn't to tank for your team.

I almost only play those 2 champions. o.o

No, Vlad's passive is called QQ and it reads - "Opposing laner begins raging at minute 5. At minute 15 opponent laner will AFK."

Actually Vlad's primary role is mage. His secondary is tank. Feel free to check it out in his profile. Besides, everyone knows you should only play him as an ADC with six item 3087
