LoL Chat Restriction Study Completed
Hey guys,
Just thought this was interesting. A group of psychology students from San Jose State wanted to see the correlation between gaming and anger or something like that. (Sorry, don't remember it all, I just read it a few days ago and couldn't get it out of my head so wondering if anyone else here had seen it)
Anyway, they apparently took a massive random group study, something like 5K people showed up for it, all LoL players. (Guess LoL really is that popular lol)
Before they started they had to weed out the people who were just prone to anger, they decided Riot had already done that for them so they decided to not allow anyone who had the chat restriction to participate.
Their group apparently dropped from around 5k to around 750-800.
So if you look at that 5k people all randomly applying as a group study....which it pretty much is. That's like 85% of LoL players are chat restricted.........
Is that how it's supposed to be?
I honestly don't play much anymore so I haven't experienced this myself. But some of my friends still play a ton, and they all have this chat ban, and say its not even worth playing because it makes it near impossible to win due to not being able to form a strategy or communicate properly. I actually know one or two people who have quit and returned to other games because of it constantly reoccurring for every little thing.
I was thinking of giving a few games a try, but now I look at the forums and see tons more people saying its ridiculous, people reporting you because you 1st blood them, and receiving a 20 game restriction that just loops endlessly. Not sure if its worth going back if that's the state of the game lol :P
Is it really like this? I see some people saying Riot claims only 2% of their player base is under chat restriction...that number sounds pretty made up tho when you have legitimate colleges and student run studies finding number over 40x that lol. There's room for error in every equation...but not that big ;p
