Ok Im gonna try really hard not to be toxic, but the best part about top lane is the lore.... It is the only lane where pure counterpicks are aloud to exist. counterpicked mid? go get your double kill bot, counter picked bot? well youve got another guy in the lane with you and even if he gets counterpicked too it doesnt really matter cause the first team to 4 man bot wins anyway. jg counterpicks can be played around extremely well in 99% of cases.

trynd, teemo, mundo, quinn, rengar. im not mad at these champs and they can be fun top.... but heres the thing whether or not you win lane is decided in champion select 90% of the time you pick trynd and the enemy picks teemo? well god damn thats a shame. you picked morde into irelia? well you should buy scuttle lunch cause you aint gonna be able to go top any time soon. malphite into quinn jax or gp into pantheon the list goes on and on, and its not like you can do anything but pray to god your jg camps you for the first 5 minutes of the game and tp is in the shitter. No where to go, nothing to do, have fun with your 30 cs at 20 min and 3 death because they have a diver jg and you cant even be under tower.

Just pick an easy champion that can snowball with a few kills. Basically every match people are forced to pick one or do what they can with something else. Btw its super easy to snowball with a few kills it only sucks when someone else is snowballing you.

I completely agree.

People had a damn aneurysm when Akali got to be under the enemy tower without being automatically targeted. Let those same people come top and deal with getting tower dove by Pantheon without taking damage. Or getting poked constantly by Teemo while trying to farm under tower. Or there being like 10 different champions that have BROKEN laning phases, but are balanced around 50% because they struggle to translate leads into victories (Illaoi Pantheon Renekton Darius Fiora Teemo Yorick) to name a few. You wanna know why tanks are always picked top in proplay? Wanna know why Toplane is always the last picked in every pro game? Because true counters exist for every toplaner champion type EXCEPT tanks.

This isn't an anti-tank rant. I think Tanks are in a poor state right now where they've been rooked out of tankiness for more damage. This rant is more about being anti-rito's toplane balancing philosohpy. Make it about skill again, like damn.

counter picks dont exist until high ELO. We fuck up way too much down here to auto win lanes with picks alone if you understand the matchup

Cho and Tahm are the safest first picks for top lane in my experience. Both of them do well in most melee matchups and have ranged abilities and sustain to deal with bully matchups.
