"Shen's two levels under Sion and still crushes the fight, thanks to some really nice outplays"
Not really, you just made him trash tier pick

Outplay = sion misses every ability lol
An anti-tank duelist can beat tanks even while behind. In other news, assassins are good at killing squishies. More at 11.
Or its because Shen is op against tanks
I literally left this in another shen spotlight thread a few min ago lmfao. http://champion.gg/champion/Sion 52% winrate, just because he doesn't feel satisfying doesn't mean he isn't good. Being number 11 in winrate out of the 58 listed top laners is definitely not bad imo.
It's funny how I have been telling the Gameplay forum for months that Sion is complete garbage and yet I continually would get bronze/silver/golds telling me that "No way, Sion is totally good".
This is the current state of Sion. Quite sad.
I agree. I sure hope he gets some buffs... I would like to play Sion without it being a horribly sub-par pick (Compared to
)
What's extra sad is that Phreak even specifically stated that Shen is not a duelist and yet Shen still effortlessly obliterated a higher leveled/(seemingly) higher fed Sion.
He missed every single abilitie ,he got creep agro ,and got shot by turet 2 times.when the real fight begin sion was already at 40% hp left while shen was full hp.
Sion missed literally every skill lol. Q's never landed, e's were missed, and w got destroyed before it got popped. "outplays"
they act like its hard to out play a sion when he is one of the slowest champions in the game the only form of mobility he has is an ult lolz shen has dashes.thats whats really sad like seriously thats not skill at all any champion with a dash can "out play" an immobile champion thats not supposed to deal damage in the first place. They gave shen % health magic damage and his sword increases that damage.Against a sion whose whole thing is stacking health lolz.I really hope they aren't serious.
ITT a 52.26%/51.61% win rate champion in plat+ is considered 'trash tier' because he isn't FoTM broken as fuck tier

Never change GP & Balance.
Never change.
That was some terrible Sion plays though. He should have just retreated after killing the tower, forcing Shen to use dash to pursue. Once the dash is down Sion can do an easy E -> Q combo. Also, the new Shen with % health damage and a constantly refreshing shield with a theoretical 100% uptime looks to be a beastly duelist. Sion is more focused on aoe knockups/stuns. In that situation you could have swapped Sion for Alistar or Leona and the outcome would have been much the same.
Not saying Sion is in a perfect spot, but that video is a horrible argument in favor of buffing him.
This video was recorded with favorable Shen situations so you're more opt to buy him. Perfect plays from either of them would have resulted in a different outcome, I'm assuming.
Idk everyone cries for Sion buffs then there was the one time I spammed him top lane for a week straight and was wrecking 90% of my lane opponents ( i even fucked up a bad vayne) with his absurd base damages (I run armor pen in him somewhere, I swear it helps or its just a waste and I'm a scrub) and strong control. My only problem with him is the complete team reliance I required late game. my damage falls off (as it should) later game and I rely on my teammates to follow up on the charge, or to follow up on my Q.
So you can only imagine how a Silver Sion(Although i've never tried him in ranked, I might be going against players of various brackets in a normal, seems to happen a lot) had trouble in fights. I rarely if ever found myself thinking, "Wow, this guy is weak." mostly because I had just finished wrecking my lane with little for my opponent to retaliate with. But the teamfights...its not like a buff would have even helped, it would have broke him. Sion required too much reliance from teammates who's whole mentality is "carry carry carry fk my team"...
So what I'm basically getting at is I can see how you think Sion's bad, but he's really not. He does his job fine, and well. He isn't lacking in the damage department (if you're worried about his late game damage, don't. His peel and CC is legendary when it lands and your carries focus on the damage while you protect them and get eaten alive.) or the tankiness department (the Mofo gets free HP)..
So I'm wondering, the players who claim Sion to be trash...Did you try him one game, fail, and then just give up? He's an amazing champion, and IMO he's completely balanced. Just a shame I main Yasuo(too fun!).. otherwise, I'd probably play a lot more top lane Sion.
As a Sion main, let me tell you he's not at all garbage. I finished last season with a 58% win rate on Sion after 85 games in gold, he's extremely powerful both when ahead and behind. This Sion literally missed every ability including his E which should literally never happen. He also didn't ult away when he saw he was losing even though Shen's dash was down. He deserved to lose.
Just my two cents, but I feel like Shen's %MaxHP damage + AS steroid is a bit overwhelming atm.
Granted, they'll probably tweak it later but currently he shreds pretty much anyone while being an excellent tank with reliable disables, which isn't something Sion can say.
I'm not sure the spotlight "gameplay" might be choreographed tbh
Sions abilitys are predictable because they have bigger impacts than most abilitys
if they want to buff sion they should look at buffing his e w and r in ways other than damage.
Omfg stop it with the damn puns!
Sion is an immortal tank that doesn't deal damage. He's just a meat shield that can be ignored. You can't ignore a shen, you can't ignore a mundo, you can't ignore a volibear, you can't ignore most tanks in this game because they deal more damage than assassins.
