8.16 Sion buffs (disappointing to me)

I main this champ, but I quit playing league for a while. It was too painful to play the champion in this meta, so basically I just quit playing and waited for some buff or rework -> (which I'd love btw).

I saw the buffs, which look amazing in numbers but I'm still confused...why?

I don't get it, I never though he needed a 'w' passive buff. I know that's what makes him unique, but it's not what makes him good. I love Sion not because of sitting in lane, farming half the game...I like fighting with my team, running out, and using my amazing abilities to impact the game. 'W' passive is something I never though about after playing hundreds of games with this guy.

But anyways one problem is he can't stack really. His abilities are not meant for dueling 1v1. Before you could, with the 'e' but now you can't. Sion's defense was so low you had to mainly use 'e' for trading/disengaging...now that it was taken away from him, you can't do much. You will only get harassed in lane, his 'q' is a terrible ability for duels, not sure why buff that, 'w' won't save you from the massive rune damage, also not something you wan't to helplessly spam because of the cost.

In my opinion what he would need the most is a defense buff. His abilities are not meant for dueling, so don't force the players to do that. Sion is a team fighting champion. I know it may not be interactive but he is not meant for dueling and if devs want him to do that, then he would need a small rework.

Another problem I have with Sion is he is being pulled by his teammates. There is so little I can do with Sion if my team isn't cooperating nicely. This champion is way too team reliant. If my team is bad, I'm automatically bad, if my team is good, I'm good.

It's very frustrating to play this champion in lane and victory depends only on my team. So in my conclusion, I believe Sion needs a small rework, and needs to get more attention from the devs. Sion is a beautiful champion, I love it, the people who designed him did an amazing job, made an enjoyable champion to play and also play against. ....But I think he needs a change to become playable in this chaotic meta.

Omfg you have no idea how to play Sion >.>.

To play him correctly you DO duel, and this HP boost also affects team fights.

And can't stack? Wtf? Try jungling him. Every camp = a 10 HP target and several 3-4 HP targets.

W scales with his max HP. If you play him correctly it's actually his core skill, and always has been. Ult >W mid Ult > Ult hit > Release W = almost 1 hits.

Even in lane he easily gains crap loads of HP.

Sion currently has a 49% winrate in Diamond, Sion players with 10 games on him have a 55% winrate. For comparison, that is the winrate that Yasuo players with 80 games on him have in Diamond. Sion, however, peaks at a strong 57% winrate for the more experienced players (aka 30+ games, there is no improvement after 30 games as Sion is a simple champion).

The only reason why Sion is not played is because he is just too damn boring to play for most, you are not the victim here.

I think that's why they mainly buffed his W for when he's killing large targets like champions.

I'm a Sion main here too, just made plat yay, I agree on a lot of points. However, I do like the W buff. He's supposed to have this great HP pool but its honestly shit because of his low HP per level and low base HP. Like the passive is just making up for how bad his base stats are until late game. However, Sion isn't a late game champion which is evident by his drop in winrate as games get longer. So the W buff will help him out a bit in my opinion. Or they could just keep the passive the same and fix his base stats but I think the passive route would reward good farm while in lane.
