No more chat? Good thing or bad thing?

So i got suspended at the end of the season cause of a trolling teemo who was flaming me in chat, and now that i have "free time" i was wondering what you guys think about this question. Should their really be a chat? Like is their a real reason to have a a chat? Doesn't Riot know that League players are above toxic, and Riot hasn't really fixed anything but made a broken system for groups of toxic players to gather and just ruin everyone fun time. If they just removed the chat, i bet their would be a 67% decrease in reports, bans, suspensions, and probably a increase in win rates cause no one would be flaming each other.

Chat is important for LCS games only as the players put the timers for their opponents summs as you can't Ult tab the players summs and it show a timer; so by that logic the chat will most likely stay.

Outside of the LCS I see no purpose honestly.
Right now the "tilt" isn't just with chat as people are actually using their brains and just muting everyone but now the toxic players are just (spamming the enemies are missing pings the ?) for everything now.

A toxic player goes 1v5 like an idiot and dies so they do the (?????????????????????????????) for the rest of the game. So now people SHOULD be talking about how to turnoff the Pings also from certain players.

Have you ever played a game like this without a chat function? It's terrible. 67% decrease in bans/reports/etc because those players would all just leave the game. There are ways to prevent players from flaming you, just like there are ways to be toxic without using chat. Taking away chat would take away many good features of the game like being able to communicate with your team and being able to talk with people in game in general.

I can see both sides here. On the one hand, I do feel like pings can communicate 90% of what is necessary now that we can ping cooldowns and such. And a lot of games go by where very little to nothing is said in chat anyhow. On the other hand, coming from playing a lot of ARAMs, I tend to see more relaxed/fun chat happening there than on SR games.

Ultimately I'd probably rather it stay around. While the mute feature isn't an excuse for people to flame others, it's a valid way of dealing with it without risk if getting yourself in trouble, too (just be sure to report after the game).

There's still a few too many things that are hard to get through with pings. It's getting closer, but for now we really still need it. "Top lane river warded" being a simple example of something that's hard to get through in pings.

But I almost agree, with some changes to pings and a few more added, chat really could be removed. Though I see no NEED for it to be.

Ok so i'll be 100% honest with you, the reason chat is a thing that is needed is because there isn't a ping for everything in the game, there is going to be toxic players even if their isn't a chat, they'll just spam pings on you all game, it'll all be the same.

Chat is used to communicate with the team and give advice to teamates who are struggling, or just to have a laugh about something stupid and funny. Most of my chat experiences with people is me telling shitty jokes to make them feel better, laughter is the best medicine as people have always said, if you can make a teamate laugh about something stupid, do it. Brightening up someones day is one of the many ways to make your team do better and the chat is there just for those many reasons some people misuse the chat and thats why you are allowed to mute them. :)

On the one hand, after I see people being toxic and abusing it in almost every game, I'd be tempted to agree with you, but then you get that one game where you get the really nice team who are really friendly in chat and you have a fun and enjoyable that you wouldn't have had in complete silence.

The problem is that you get the toxic players in most games and the friendly ones only rarely. :(

Yes we need the chat, it's a strategy game at its core.
