Ideas to make Support Alistar's kit more useful during team fights.

I love Alistar as a champ. I think he's a very fun champion. The issue I have with him is that his only team fight potential is initiating, or peeling, and spamming his E. His cooldowns on his Q and W can't be reduced because, in my opinion, it'd impact the game negatively and encourage him to be used in other lanes even more.

I think the bread and butter of his kit, is in fact, his Q and W. To make him reach Thresh's level, there needs to be changes to: A) his passive or B) his E. My suggestions for his E would be that nearly allied champions that are healed by his E receive some sort of buff, maybe armor or magic resist(?) for a short period of time (three seconds?).

I don't quite get how Alistar's current passive blends with his kit much at all. As a support, you're not concerned with damaging towers with a weak passive. There should be something a bit better to go with his kit than that. How about a passive that grants health regen for a few seconds for each ability he uses?

This is just a brainstorm written in a thread. What are your thoughts on Alistar? What could we do to make him a better support?

While his passive is very weak, everybody looks at just the damage. Alistar Ignores Unit Collision as well as dealing damage. Ignoring unit collision is huge for him because he can get peeled really easily. His E kind of needs something, the problem is, it heals every allied unit which makes him an amazing pusher with or without his team.

I have been playing alistar since season 2. His passive does need something but ignoring unit collision is my favorite thing about it because I can cast E+talisman later in the game, when there are minions, for one of the scariest initiations in the game. His E also needs something but they would have to nerf the "every allied unit" portion of it imo.

I think it'd be interesting if he got something like that one iteration of Fiora's ult rework we got awhile back from Guinsoo. Basically she had a .75s global CD on all her spells for 12 s. It created blade waltz without the invulnerability.

It would be cool if his Q and W could do something like this. Start out making his W a skillshot, then if he misses either, they go on a long CD during ult, and a very short CD if he lands them, making him a teamfightinging beast while lowering his early game impact.

I see where your idea could be neat. It'd definitely up his learning curve, making him a skill-required champion. This would reward good players and punish bad players who decide to pick him up.

Not really interested in punishing bad players, but more making it so there is more options. At a basic level you can flail around and do stuff, and sometimes do more stuff than others, with worst case scenario basically being what he's doing now. Best case scenario you get the rampaging minotaur. Te only stipulation would probably be that during his ult he loses the damage on his abilities or something so AP alistar isn't getting katarina-like pentakills.

Reduce the CDs enough and now he because op in team fights. 2 seconds of CC that aren't reduced by tenacity(unless headbutted into a wall) is a lot of time sitting there which is why long CDs are needed.

Alistar will continue to remain comparatively weak until his insane cooldowns, prohibitive mana costs, trashy passive, or terrible ratios (He has some of the lowest AP ratios in the game) are fixed.

While he can be effective in the right hands, he simply does not compare to an equally skilled Leona, Taric, or Thresh as a support in any phase of the game.

are you kidding alistar is op as f***

You honestly think that support Alistar is OP?? Could you explain why you think that? I'm not talking about top lane Ali. I think if Riot decided to remove his heal all together that it'd take him out of top lane.

Strong sustain & cc as a support. Becomes extremely tanky without any items. In a teamfight theres basically no way you can die with ult up and you can soak up dmg from even 3 fed people long enough for your team to do something.

I respect your opinion (you're Diamond, and I'm a lowly Silver). However, if the enemy knows how to focus, they won't be concerned about killing Alistar until the very end or until his ult runs out. Pretty much, you spend half of the fight, if you're lucky, waiting for your CC to come back up after you've combo'ed.

Thresh has just as much CC, but a shield, and a free escape that completely destroys anything that Alistar's heal offers.

He's an unkillable cc machine with displacement. There are many situations where this is useful, ie the threat of headbutting you into their team or flashbutting under tower. I know there have been many games that have been lost b/c of enemy ali plays that couldnt be done by thresh or w/e

I don't think there is anything that can be done that won't make him so broken OP that he is pick/ban with mostly ban. 70% damage reduction with his ult is just incredible and the amount of disruption he can do is pretty damn good.

I'm still not completely convinced that top lane Alistar will die in competitive play. Sure the Headbutt-auto attack combo that couldn't be retaliated against is a huge loss, but he still fits the profile of top laners that can use the Rod of Ages well.

Take off his heal because it's a very minor part of his kit. He really only heals himself with that due to the fact that healing his adc with it is minimal and costs too much mana. The best top-laners have some sort of sustain. That'd fix that.

I think they could have fun with his passive and rename it "Grazing" and have some sort of buff for nearby teammates or like was mentioned before have a cd reduction for hitting his combo.
