In terms of toxicity, viability, literally anything. Let's hear those unpopular opinions!

Heimerdinger entire play style is based on sitting around in a limited range of defence while poking opponent. Its just unfun to play against for anyone.

Kalista Akali Zoe are all champions that are not allowed to be properly viable because their kits are too toxic. Then on the other hand, Yasuo is similarly as toxic but is allowed to be viable anyways for some reason, resulting in >50% ban rate for years.

For champions in general, MasterYi Vayne Tryndamere Jax, and whatever current top tier marksmen (with a couple exceptions), are badly designed 'right click you to death' kits... All of the right-clickers need reworks and marksmen need more varied niches/playstyles as a whole class.

Any champion that 100-0s in <2 seconds (Rengar Diana) from stealth or fog of war is also extremely toxic... It annoys me that one of my favorite champions Shaco was given 100-0 burst in order to satisfy unhealthy expectations for assassins... Not every assassin should have 100-0 potential... Some should rely on mindgames, deception, and map control for example. Mage itemization should be less bursty by default... Burst itemization shouldn't be core on almost all mages. item 3020 item 3285

The healthiest kits are the ones that are utility or defense oriented. Immobile juggernauts that have plenty of counterplay are also pretty healthy, however, juggernauts do become toxic if they can't be reasonably peeled (Garen/Darius x Yuumi at its height or when item 3800 item 3193 Chogath was meta and 1-shotting people). Sometimes even utility kits become toxic when they're blatantly overpowered, such as Soraka Janna Lulu Nami in metas where they have huge winrates and make lanes passive, but they are still less toxic than many other champions are when equally overtuned, therefore, they have healthy designs.

I think the healthiest designs are Alistar Ashe Bard Braum Ivern Lissandra Maokai Nunu (when he's not bugged) Poppy Sejuani Senna Shen Singed Sion Swain TwistedFate Xerath Zac Ziggs Illaoi Nami but part of being healthy for the game is being unique so Riot can't just copy these kits on new champions or it will be too much of a good thing.

Akali Zed Yasuo Katarina I love playing against an assassin that can spam abilities without using real resources. At least with the mana assassins I can play around that. Yasuo being the biggest offender, as he both have no resources for his abilities and having little to no cooldowns.

Zoe Because EVERY single thing about this champ is horrible.

The design of some obnoxious loud demi god is pure trash. playing against her is beyond frustrating, especially since she's just old Nidalee on crack, and she has way too many safety nets. You miss your Bubble? it stays on the ground and zones. You miss an ability? dont worry lich bane is your passive, and you have Ahri W for free. Also have fun getting completely oneshot because no matter how good you are, you can't dodge every single Q/E from her.

But the worst part by far, is that she introduces TRUE RNG into the game with her stupid W. Why do minions have to drop random summoner spells and items again? It's especially fun to get hit by a protobelt in lane at level 3, or having her just drop a random fucking ignite on you from a minion. Or even better, you're fighting bot and the level 4 Zoe comes in and drops her skillfully obtained redemption on you.

I know you can't say nasty things about developers on the boards, but i fucking despise CertainlyT for turning this game into an absolute shitshow with his abominations.

Every champion that essentially has 0 reason to interact with you outside of flinging spells and retreating.

Jamaree1/24/2020, 12:14:25 AM10 votes

Clearly Singed :^)

Edit: The real answer is entirely subjective, what some people find horribly designed, others will be totally fine with. I don't see the problem with any of CertainlyT's design personally because I understand each of their weaknesses to beat them, others would disagree while they find champions I found horribly designed would find them fine for much the same reason, that's just how video game balance works, I only put Singed as a joke because you know, spewing poison.

Alpha TF.

Edit. As not all yall seem to know the kit.

Gold card was an AOE stun. Same damage and same aoe as Red. his E was a global TP requiring no targets on a 30 second cd. R was global vision and slow. Also removed the cast time on E. .. Global range flash. good times? Passive was global crit for everybody on team.

Tobykachu1/24/2020, 12:49:01 PM9 votes

It's either Yuumi or Aphelios.

Yuumi is conceptually terrible due to the fact she was designed as an enchanter with literally no weaknesses. Most enchanters are designed with the explicit weakness of being extremely squishy, offering vast amounts of utility and protection at the expense of their tankiess. Yuumi, meanwhile, offers just as much protection for her allies, however she didn't have any penalty for this, forgoing the typical weakness the enchanters share and spends the vast majority of the game untargetable.

Aphelios may just take the case though. No one champion should be this overly complicated and complex.

Akali It’s been over a year... and no matter how many nerfs they do, she’s still super hated to play against and good in pro play. I still remember release when her shroud let you completely ignore towers if timed correctly.

Thilmer1/24/2020, 3:12:03 PM6 votes

Yasuo is the greatest ofender by miles.

No resources, really low CDs, the best wall in the game for no particular reason (it doesn't even go with the rest of his hypercarry mechanics), and on top of that he has being allowed to be a pain in the ass since his release, because he sells a lot of skins.

R0ses R Red1/24/2020, 2:45:48 AM5 votes

Heimerdinger, period. There's annoying champions that make you ask "why CAN they do that?!," but Heimerdinger's whole concept is flawed. He lives and dies by his turrets, so he also thrives and feasts by his turrets. If he has turrets, you suffer. If he has no turrets, he suffers. The big thing to note here is that his turrets aren't like Illaoi's spirit grab or Lux's snare. It's not something to hit or miss, it's something for your KIT or STATS -not you- to answer.

NelsieLisnen1/24/2020, 10:50:07 AM5 votes

To me the worst offenders are champs that don't really play or look like what we're promised. Or because they straight up make no sense. Sometimes it's due to their design itself and sometimes it's due to the game progressing, leaving them behind i.e:

  • Neeko being nothing more than an average mage design with a gimmicky passive that is mostly useless. And she doesn't even look like a chameleon, pls, don;t defend that sht

  • JarvanIV supposedly being a leader of men, someone who takes the lead from minute 1 and goes headfirst into battle. Meanwhile, he just smacks around innocent jungle creatures until he feels confident enough to ambush unsuspecting champions

  • Skarner wat even iz that

  • Zilean time mage? More like a zoomey bomber. Ekko does the job of a time altering mage better

  • Shyvana her dragon form looks like an aborted dragon embryo

  • Nocturne he's supposed to be the most horrific champion in the game. What he IS is a dark bald dude with no lower body and armblades. Only his ult is on theme

  • Karma to me, the definition of a filler champ. She doesn't feel or play like anything in particular.

  • Kaisa so, if we draw any conclusions about the Void based on Kai'sa, we'll find that it's more of a beauty salon than a horrific dimension of twisted natural laws that corrupt body and mind alike. Like, the adorable critters were so kind as to even give her a lipstick

  • Annie old league was a wild parade were any silly archetype could fit in. But nowadays, an anime goth loli schoolgirl is kinda, well, too stupid to be allowed to exist as is.

Ionian Vulpix1/24/2020, 12:16:03 PM5 votes

Veigar His passive and ultimate are toxic incarnate, and his E is a contender for best ability in the game. Even if the stun doesn't hit, your movement is so limited that you've got maybe one pixel to dodge his other abilities.

Saezio1/24/2020, 2:14:05 PM5 votes

I think Qiyana is the worst designed champ.

For the simple reason that an assassin with easy access to invisibility,TARGETED cc,TARGETED execute AND ONE OF THE BEST TEAMFIGHT ULT IN THE GAME is just too fucking much.

Who on earth thought that R should be on an assassin?

Edit: 55% winrate and 40%+ banrate in masters+ in 10.1 BTW..

NeoseTheUltimate1/24/2020, 11:10:30 PM5 votes

Kaisa

Overrated character. Make all the remarks about her butt, being designed to be attractive doesn't automatically make me like her. Always has a foothold in the meta despite being easy to play. Annoying abilities, half of her healthbar added as a shield, invisibility on an attack speed steroid, long-range plasma application without AP and near Jhin crit damage with. Lore isn't taken into account hardly at all in her design. She looks like a supermodel posing in a skintight suit, not some lone survivor child. Her lore isn't even that interesting besides giving Kassadin something else to do.

Design is boring. Riot played it super safe with this one. Her kit, along with nearly every champion released/reworked in 2018, bewilders me at the thought that the team passed this.

Vlada Cut1/24/2020, 3:22:11 PM4 votes

I personally still find Tryndamere annoying because of 2 reasons

  1. His passive gives him BOTH AD and Crit chance, that's too much free damage because Crit already amplified damage based off of your AD, he doesn't need to get even MORE free AD for higher Crit damage. This is where Yasuo's passive is more balanced compared to Tryndamere because he gets twice the critical chance instead, and rushes attack speed because he can make use of his base AD. I am NOT saying Yasuo's passive is any more balanced, just less toxic compared to Tryndamere's.

  2. His presence is always high in any game, whether he is ahead or behind. If you are a melee champion and he first bloods you on level 1, 2, 3, 6 or any other during the laning phase, consider yourself permanently behind for the rest of the game. You better pray that your team is composed to heavy CC lockdown champions so you can render his ultimate useless. If you DO managed to kill him and get ahead of him in lane, he is still going to splitpush all game and gain consistency that later on transitions into a lead from pure objectives and CS he can collect while doing so. Oh and his E the most annoying thing that exists, besides Akali who was already adressed and my main - Camille's Hookshot (I will not discuss her here as this is not a place nor time to do so).

I'm sorry, but Tryndamere really needs a massive rework regarding his passive Q and E. R can stay but as long as his passive and E are changed.

Quáx1/24/2020, 2:04:42 PM4 votes

Diana

This new rework pisses me off. Old Diana's old design was based around her weakness being mobility, before 6 she had no mobility whatsoever and it was her largest weakness, but Riot decided to just say "Fuck it lets remove that" and now she's fucking broken.

The Whamboozler1/24/2020, 9:22:31 AM4 votes

Too many variables. Worst designed can mean a lot of things.

For instance Kalista has a terribly designed kit because her passive is too obnoxious for her to ever really be "good". It's clunky and odd and the few times she's been good in the past, it's been so oppressive that she's almost IMMEDIATELY gotten nerfed into the ground over it.

But by a different criteria, what about someone like Kaisa. Her kit is both functional and strong... perhaps a bit too strong but that's not the point. But as a character design she's garbage, because nothing about her works for the story she's supposed to have. She's supposed to be a scrappy survivor that was exposed to the closest the game has to hell or a lovecraftian horror world... but look at her and you'd never think she's that. she looks like a sci-fi space babe... pretty and fit with immaculate make up and few signs of any sort of horrible ordeal at all. She's a complete failure at being what she's supposed to be, but her kit and gameplay are fine.

Or perhaps we can go by the idea of "too goofy to take seriously". In which case... Camille. Sword legs seem like one of THE most impractical things ever. And if the character was kinda camp, goofy or meant to be over the top fun that'd be fine but she takes it all SO SERIOUSLY and the result makes her even more absurd to me... though this may just be a personal feeling here.

What about bad design in the "this champion just makes the game less fun by existing". I mean, that's bad design, isn't it? Problem is, there's a LOT of champs who fit this idea. The crowned king is Yasuo because Windwall is a stupid thing that literally just says "you mages and adcs can't play the game for a bit" and that takes the cake for stupidly bad design choices... but a lot of assassin types fit this when they're too strong. Champs like Zed, Akali, Diana, Ekko, Leblanc, Fizz, Pyke, etc.

And lastly... we have champs like Tryndamere, Riven, Shaco, Blitzcrank, and the lord of troll... Teemo. champions who may be strong or may be weak... but they're just plain obnoxious or they tend to have obnoxious players. Singed should go in here too... and Yasuo makes a glorious return as well. You know... you just KNOW that these guys are going to feed their butts off if they're on your team, but if they're on the enemy team, they're going to faceroll all over your teammates and become a massive pain in the butt... possibly costing you the game. Something about the design of these champions attracts the kind of people who will feed all game and STILL blame their teammates for the loss despite them being 0/14/1 by the end of the game. Blaming the jungler is popular with this crowd. (Even Shaco... somehow.)

So yeah, I dunno how to call someone the worst champion in the game design-wise. There's a lot of ways to be badly designed. It's impossible to say.

Wait, no it isn't. It's Yasuo. Yasuo is the shittiest designed champ in the game.

IainG101/25/2020, 6:18:09 AM3 votes

Yasuo

I know it's cliche, but it's just the combination of reasons that make him such an absolute fucking abomination that should have gotten CT thrown off the Champ Design Team.

  1. Windwall: an ability that completely invalidates any ranged champion, and it's free to use. Braum has a version as well, but at least his is anchored on one side of him and it costs mana (though admittedly not much). It's such a toxic ability, and it's the main reason he's banned IMO.
  2. Mobility: most mobile champions have cooldowns for their mobility, to stop them being oppressive. Yasuo just needs minions, and if you have to stand on top of your minions to kill his, prepare to get dashed to. Zed can place his shadow, Kata has her thrown daggers, Talon can leap over walls, but those you can avoid, and they can only effectively do it once or twice. Yasuo can dash up to 7 times in a normal wave (including to you); he can use those to dash skillshots, engage onto you, and to disengage back to your melee minions. The only champion right now that can really match Yas for mobility in a lane is Akali, and she's having some of that (rightfully) pulled out of her kit.
  3. Items: due to his passive, Yasuo item-spikes incredibly hard. It means you can punish him a lot early, and he'll still come back a few minutes later like you had no effect on him. If you punish a Zed or Kata pre-6 for walking up to a wave, you can keep them behind for a long time (provided they don't get fed by idiot team-mates when they roam).
  4. Secondary Resource: or his lack thereof. Yes, he has Flow, but all that's used for is his passive shield. Every other champion in the game that has his mobility and damage output is limited by either Mana (long term, prevents just spamming abilities on CD) or Energy (short term, limits the spells that can be cast in a trade). In terms of resourceless champions (and there are more than most people think), Yasuo has the highest mobility and probably the highest damage (full damage Garen, Riven or Trynda might take that).
  5. His Ult and Towers: Towers cannot target him in ult; Riot's reasoning is because the ult locks him in place. However, this doesn't apply to anyone else (i.e. Warwick, Amumu, Malz, Kata, Skarner, etc). He is literally the only champion that gets Tower immunity on an offensive skill. No one should have Tower immunity on an offensive skill....

When you combine all that, you get a champion that ignores your early creep denial, then dashes up into your face, drops a wall at your feet that you cannot shoot across, and can do all of this potentially under your own Tower. This is not fun to play against; this is anti-fun to play against, and anyone with a brain should be able to work out one person having fun is not worth 5 people not having fun. Yasuo was the turning point in Riot's champion design philosophy, and it was a bad direction they chose to go in.
