What is the Sorcery tree's purpose?
- Precision handles DPS and sustained combat.
- Domination handles burst damage, kill-related mechanics, and vision tools.
- Resolve handles durability, sustain, tenacity/CC.
- Inspiration handles quirky utility and things that don't fit in other trees.
So what is the Sorcery tree actually supposed to do? Its tagline is "empowered abilities and resource manipulation", but it doesn't really do much of either. Hell, Manaflow Band's the only rune on the tree that fits 'resource manipulation' unless we're counting CDR as a resource now.
Aery is basically diet Deathfire Touch with added support functionality, Comet is slightly stronger poke than Aery but somewhat more situational because you generally need some sort of CC to reliably land it (to the point where it's more consistent on the likes of Camille or Sion than most actual mages), and Phase Rush is of course diet Stormraider's.
A good number of the Precision runes are straight-up stronger versions of old offensive masteries, while Sorcery runes are largely cheaper knockoffs.
It just seems to me like the entire Sorcery tree needs to be re-evaluated from the ground up. The other four trees all do their jobs, though.
