What does this mean? Do I have a maximum of 4 chests available to earn at any one time and when I run out, I have to wait 6 days for ONE to regnerate?

You can only earn 4 chests per month, meaning 1 chest per week, since there are 4 weeks in a month. That's why it says after 6 days, ( a week ), you'll be able to unlock a chest again
Yeah, you've got it. You get a chest every week that can drop for you, and you can store up to 4 drops at a time.
