Paradox in recipe?

OK, this is just something that confused me, but... Why does build from ? It feels counterintuitive to have Cold Steel and Thorns at the same time given Thorns relies on auto-attacks to proc while Cold Steel reduces AS of oncoming attackers.
If anything, I should say that be replaced with or something instead.

Thornmail is an all around poorly thought out item.

On top of both of those being counter intuitive, it's the target's source of Grievous Wounds. Despite the fact that the Thorns and Cold Steel passive both work to dissuade enemies from auto-attacking you.

GW should be on Sunfire, not Thornmail.
