@RIOT -- Why is the new client so piss poor about friend list/ blocking people?

I have to actually add someone as my friend to block them now? Also when I am in champ select, and some random guy who added me to flame me starts going off... now I can't block him until I am out of champ select? What idiot thought this up? The new client is horrible, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
