About Cassiopeia.

Cassiopeia As I write this, I think of three different things when Cassiopeia comes into my mind. Her current state in the meta, her lore and her playstyle/identity,.

I will not cover much about the meta and the lore, but focus on the last one.

About the state in the meta: as of 03/11, she is the 3rd least played champion in the game (I hope lolking is lying and she has more gameplay). Even with her re-launch and the Shurima event. So, to my eyes, people who really like Cassiopeia will be on the forums to talk about her, and not complain because of a SoloQ game which she stomped.

About her lore/identity: this is what Riot is trying to mix her with her playstyle, like the Passive she has right now, if you read the new lore/what stashu commented on "Cassiopeia Plans", it actually matches Cassiopeia's lore and is not something crazy despite the numbers, the stats, etc. The concept is Ok.

About her playstyle/identity: Cassiopeia's playstyle and identity is, to my eyes, the most complex of all champions. It's not like if you could play her AP or AD like Ezreal for example. But pre-rework Cassiopeia had actually two totally different playstyles which therefore, shows two identities within one champion: A DoT AoE Poison Mage and a Twin Fang machine gun (I play her like this). Hence, it ended up spliting Cassiopeia players into these two groups of players.

Riot and the Re-work: the re-work was straight forward. They buffed and centered Cassiopeia on her Twin Fang, making the second group of people fine with the fixes and buffs to E (me at least), while the whole other group ended up in the forums complaining. (Speaking just by myself) Although I am fine with the changes, I would sacrifice some potential in E to balance Q and W. After all, to be able to land a low cooldown Twin Fang, I need to have my target poisoned.

What do I want to explain: Stashu (or other Rioter which is involved on her changes), with the feedback of the first group, will change Cassiopeia into the DoT AoE Poison Mage identity. Therefore, people who's playstyle is to spam E, will end up on the forums just like people are doing now, having more issues and wasting time reworking Cassiopeia.

If I wasn't clear enough, I just ask for Cassiopeia to have this double identity back again. I have no idea what has to be changed and what needs to be done, but this should not be the thread to discuss it, since numbers weren't what I talked about, nor her spells. I just wanted to talk about her identity without spells getting involved too much, which obviously she was centered either on Q-W or E.

TL;DR Pre-rework Cassiopeia had actually two totally different playstyles: A DoT AoE Poison Mage and a Twin Fang machine gun. The re-work aimed Cassiopeia into a Twin Fang automatic rifle, so the group of people who played a safe AoE DoT Mage, started to complain (I am actually in favour of your request, to remove her Poison damage was not good either). What I just ask is to bring back this double identity she has.

Thank you for reading. I will add a poll just to know which is the largest group, I am curious. Cassiopeia

I'm not even sure if I'd call it a "double identity", since you could do so much with itemization on her. You weren't restricted to Build A and Build B and it was nice having a champion that wasn't as strict in her build as other champions.

=\ The stat-bundle passive she has now forces her build to be even more strict than the typical mage now which is a switch to the worst extreme.

TL;DR: In my eyes Stashu should have simply reworked Veigar. His Kit is much more fitting the "new concept" than Cassiopeia. She didn't need anything but undoing the nerfs from patch v1.0.0.134. Which were a result of ITEMS being overpowered, not her. (Wota) Cassiopeia Patch History: http://lol.gamepedia.com/Cassiopeia_-_The_Serpent's_Embrace

She had balanced kit. AoE and single target damage. While the 2nd part was dependant on her performance with the first part.

Now Stashu suddenly shoose that she most not deal anywhere near significant AoE damage, but become a single target AP carry. At the same time her viability during all stages of the game was hifted into a horrendous early, mid and post mid game - in order to reach the (possibly) highest possible single-target-mage DPS with a full build.

1.) Her playstyle changed 2.) Her viability during certain stages of the game changed

So in fact old Cassiopeia fans not only got 1 slap into the face (not being able to choose their path anymore). Instead they got a 2nd slap into the face.

If you only played her one way or the other instead of capitalizing on both styles of play, you weren't playing her properly.

Though your point is right, she still can build most of the items she could build before, with the exception of items with CDR, which weren't favourable for her anyways.

The only items which I believe she can't build right now because of her passive making you waste stats, are items with 20% CDR, since you can still build an item with 10% CDR and not waste it's stats.

I think he also means that you are stuck with Tear of the goddess, which could have been ignored completely before. Now it's absolutely necessary because you'll never have enough mana even with it.

Sometimes I would go straight for Rylai's and then focus on damage. Mana was not something I always had to worry about unless I was in a lane that push hard, then I would get Chalice.

This hard press into needed mana because your mana costs are ridiculous is annoying. And Stashu wants to take away the mana regen from her E...

Well, ever since I started playing and maining Cass (about 2 yrs ago), I had also started to very often spectate ranked games involving a Cass. Every now and then, Id come across a very good Cass player who would carry with her, some other doing so so, and of course there would be the ones who would just get owned. That was then and before her last rework. Ever since that rework, all Im seeing are Casses being destroyed and getting owned every single game Im watching, And alot of these Casses are mains of her, which is scarry. When I play her, my biggest problem with her is her reduced mobility (compared to all of these champs with much higher mobility) added to the all the stuns and slows for days. All of that mixed with the fact that most of her damage now relies more on a single target cast (which can easily be dodged) than on aoe. So, her passive, which was supposed to make her stronger late game in teamfights, is actually not even profitable to her since she is reduced to single targetting in teamfights. "Single targetting" is good on real adc's, who can actually stay at a further distance from the fights...not for mages like Cass with very little movement speed nor escapes and who actually have to get closer to fight and do most of their damage.

After all, what good are the ap stacks if she can barely finish a kill before getting killed herself in each teamfights?

Imo, these following changes should balance her out better, making her both more viable and efficient in games :

  • raise up the movement speed on Q hits
  • bring back some more damage on the poison abilities (both Q and W)
  • reduce ap stacks on her e.

I want her as before the rework with some QoL changes that helped her on the current rework. Why is that so hard Rito
