Oh look, generic rant incoming
Preseason 2017.
Shit's unbalanced as fuck. I've been around since september 2013 I think, so a little while but not since the beginning. I've seen a lot, faced a lot, saw lots of ridiculousness throughout the years. So far pre-season this year is feeling like the absolute worst in terms of balancing and game health.
I enjoy games less and less when I lose because people on the enemy team are multiple divisions higher than me, have the more broken rune pages, and are teamed up while I'm playing with 4 complete strangers. I lose nearly every game I play and it feels fucking awful when the game I so dearly want to enjoy gives me a massive fucking headache every time I have to stare at a grey screen for the 8th time in a row because (recent example here) the enemy Nocturne is able to pop you when you have 300 armor, and he only has a couple lethality items.
Which, since I'm doing this, and starting from the top, LETHALITY IS STILL DISGUSTING. Riot, I get the idea behind lethality, and why it's semi-necessary, but there is zero advantage to saving and buying a BF sword or other item components, when you could just 2 shot someone with serrated dirk and a Fortune Q from a minion. The armor negation needs on the items needs to be lowered if you can build rune pages that add something like another large chunk of lethality. Make armor pen the more important stat for late game.
Electrocute, (this one is shorter), it's like pre-nerf thunderlords, except now your runepage doesn't have to spec into weird trees to get the most damage. It needs a nerf
Summon Aery is going to be the trickiest to explain how I feel and what I think should be done. (It's cousin arcane comet is also highly abused on unexpected champs because free damage.) I don't think Aery should activate on auto attacks, and certain empowered attacks either. I understand the logic with say, summon aery working with draven axes, but getting hit by one axe, and a sona q at level 1 for 90% of your health and ultimately losing lane/game is entirely unhealthy. I might've added a few degrees to the earth's axis over that game. MOVING ON
Press the Attack and everyone who's abusing it OH BOY THIS KEYSTONE I don't know if I want to love it or hate it, because it never seems to be as ridiculously overpowered when run on Vi as it is on literally every ADC except Jhin (who gets a mention later), and is too much of a boost to damage, where I had 400 health eaten away by a level 3 gnar. It's ridiculous. I have it on Vi anyway because the other options in precision aren't as appealing for her, and I don't actually like the domination tree for her main runes. Everything about Press the Attack is polarizing in my games, (might just be me, who knows since I can only comment on what I personally see) where if you have it and you're on the enemy team it's chunking people right off the bat, but if I have it, it does shit-all (nothing). I might just be bad, but let's move swiftly forward
Jhin, the man who doesn't have great options Jhin is still technically as strong as ever, but he has no really good options for runes. Summon aery if you feel sweaty and want to abuse it, it works. Press the attack isn't a great option with your slow rate of fire and relies on enemies being locked down or unaware of possible damage, Fleet of foot doesn't seem to be nearly as useful as I hoped it would be when I switched to using it, since the heal from it is entirely minimal (it's present, and when stacked with other healing it adds up, but on it's own not worth it). Leaving lethal tempo as nearly the worst option since the attack speed boost doesn't give nearly enough of a benefit, and will generally go onto cooldown in a mid to late game teamfight, becoming a burden. I know giving him something better to work with isn't really feasible, but it's again the situation where I might have the same runes as an enemy, but their runes seem to be doing much more for them.
Typing all of this out is mostly just to serve to vent my own frustrations, but if I'm getting this exasperated with the game nearly every time I get halfway into a match, there's multiple problems.
I know that eventually the patches are going to balance things out, but they can't come soon enough for me.
(The edit that happens a day later)
(I forgot to mention unequal matchmaking in full, but how much beyond "Don't make me fight people who are plat if I'm only silver" is actually necessary? Please fix soon, because getting stomped by inherently inequality in skill is never fun)
