Why I was looking forward to solo queue
Hey everyone,
I've been looking forward to solo queue because of two main reasons. First, I thought it would be really great to see how high I could rank up in a world where everyone is playing solo. Ever since I started playing ranked it's always been solo / duo queue, so I was really looking forward to the chance to have a truly solo queue experience.
The second reason is that I thought it would be interesting to see what people's ranks were in solo queue. I currently have a friend who is effectively being boosted by high elo players smurfing with her. She's gone from silver last season to nearly diamond this season thanks to our high diamond / master tier friends. Just last game she fed in lane and did only 3k dmg to enemy champions the ENTIRE game as ADC, but it doesn't matter - when two other people on your team are consistently going legendary you get to win the vast majority of your games no matter what.
To me, this has the effect of making your rank much less of an accomplishment, and I used to be thrilled about hitting the next milestone. The first time I hit diamond made me really happy, but this season I haven't played very many ranked games because what's the point? I might as well just round up 2-3 of my most skilled friends, stomp a few games, and enjoy another diamond border for season 6.
Good luck to everyone on the rift, here's hoping that somehow, against the odds, we still get a solo queue.
