Why would their levels matter? Surely you think the matchmaking system should match according to skill and not level, yes?
You should take that as a compliment. There are lots of level 280s to 160s who are as good as they are ever going to be, and match making thinks they are as good as you who are openly admitting you are trying to learn and feel like you yourself still play like a newcomer. Just means you're learning faster than you think, assuming the match making is working. In Dota that is what a game like what you're describing would mean!

you're more experienced at the game than you think or let on.
playing a champ you don't know doesn't change the fact that you DO know a ton about the game.
even if the game were 100% fair and balanced with match making - just by researching before playing a character you're already leagues ahead of those that traditionally play pre level 30.
manipulating the game mechanics, coming from another moba, researching builds, reading patch notes, etc.
basically if you come in knowing how to do that you're a more experienced player than most at your level. so you have to be matched with higher level players to compensate.
we need a new term to go with noob and smurf to describe players like that.
