New scoring system for ranked play
There is simply nothing more infuriating than a loss that was not your fault. Whether you had an AFK, a feeder, a troll, or simply a team that did not have the skill, losing a game's worth of LP and 2 games worth of time just to get back to even is terribly unsettling.
Now, I completely understand that the true measure of how good a player is is wins over an extended period of time. I also understand that the MMR system is in place to attempt to help good players in bad elos (and vice versa). However, I propose a MAJOR change for a couple reasons. 1) the amount of games needed to really average out the "bad" luck is probably years. Statistics are only accurate over extremely large samples, and an average game is too long for any reasonable person to achieve statistical validity. 2) My proposal can make the community more enjoyable.
I think Platinum and above should remain unchanged. Once players make platinum, they have a pretty good understanding of how to play, and how to SLOW DOWN when they are losing.
In gold, silver and bronze, players lack that ability. When they begin to lose a lane, they don't know how to slow down. Instructing them to stop engaging and farm doesn't work either...It happens a LOT. I will win my lane by a landslide, I will even roam around to help the other lanes. I won't take kills to allow them to get an advantage, but they still lose and continue to feed badly.
My proposal would be a change to how you are scored at the end of the game in gold, silver and bronze. I think there should either be an algorithm that takes into account CS, kills, deaths, your lane opponent and their performance, etc. Maybe even gold intake over time would be a good indicator as that is a pretty decent gauge. Perhaps even a voting system after the game where the opposition ranks the 5 players they played against from best to worst. Maybe even a combination of these platforms.
A side-effect would be better in game chat. People wouldn't be nearly as abusive if they knew they were getting rated by the other team. Seeing as currently there is really only negative correction (I will report you if you are abusive), this method would give people a POSITIVE reason to be nice. Maybe if instead of being abusive, blaming my team, etc, being supportive and showing a positive attitude might change your ranking from 4th to 2nd...
I don't know exactly the point system, but I would see it working something like this. The BEST player on the losing team wouldn't lose LP (maybe even gain 1-5...again, it would have to be worked out). The worst player on the losing team would lose a substantial amount...Maybe 30-40. The WORST player on the winning team might only gain 5-10. The best player would gain 30-40.
I could see a negative effect of this of course. People would kill steal and play very selfishly in order to be the carry. Few would want to be support as you would rarely ever get rated 1-3 in a support unless you were really good.
Open for input. If you like this idea, PLEASE comment. MAYBE riot will change this game before I quit...
) start the game with a good luck, have fun in [All] chat, Then at 1:40 I mute all players and the first thing I get from my teammate is a DEMANDING Rengar for a leash.
Few minutes go by, I kill Riven, Few minutes go by, I kill Fizz under turret but BLitz roamed from bot and killed me, Rengar then proceeds to curse at not only my bot lane, but at the enemy Fizz.
The match goes further on and I roam towards dragon to help Rengar secure it without the enemies interfering, Riven takes top tower and we secure dragon by zoning the enemies away, Rengar then curses at me for letting Riven have a "free tower and now available to roam" ignoring the fact she's 0-2, 40 cs, and clearly does not play riven (She uses her ult before her abilities as if she thinks it does more damage on higher health)
Following that later on there is a team fight, We end up trading Rengar for Blitz, Riven, Dragon, and a Tower. But Rengar continues to be angry and blame us for his death.
Continuing that we keep taking turrets, killed, meanwhile Rengar being extremely rude to all team members for not following his 100% exact wording to something even if it was a bad idea despite the fact we haven't lost anyone in a while.
Later on we kill Trundle and FIzz, but Ezreal scores them Dragon, he gets angry about this again.
After that it's constant team fighting with us coming out on top without losing any one and we end the game. Only problem? Rengar is taunting at the end of the game, and post game screen as well.
He was extremely rude to the bot lane even though I thought they did well, if me or Anivia tried to calm him down he would go after us.
So would he end up gaining more lp? There's also the factor that enemies were extremely focused on terrorizing their Riven, simply being extremely rude to her, Ezreal being arrogant "I'm too good for this team" "this blitz sucks" "look at this persons build" both against us and his own team. Through out the match only Morgana, Trundle, Vayne and Blitz, stayed Neutral, Me, Anivia, and Fizz tried to calm people down, but Rengar, Ezreal, and Riven were going at it. Who would gain more LP, Lose more?
And one important thing, How can you prevent people from doing the following
"hmmm, This enemy carried their team the entire match and won it for them. I'm so angry, I'm gonna write this player is toxic etc etc etc to make them gain less LP."
Sorry if I made you read a lot.
