Hey, yah so um... why is Caitlyn allowed to do this?

It's a bit ridiculous isn't it?

edit: For pete sakes I can't believe I have to make this clear...

It ain't about whatever possible item/level difference or the stupidity of the Jinx...

Caitlyn as a SIEGEING CHAMPION meant for long range harrassment and DPS... She shouldn't be able to do triple head shot procs in such a quick succession for such absurd damage!

I'd like everyone to consider that Rengar had this exact same thing removed on him despite being

  1. tied to his ultimate.
  2. taking way more skill and knowledge of the champion to execute
  3. being melee.

yet ya'll are defending this atrocity like its a fine and good demonstration of skill yet if an assassin is doing suddenly it's "unhealthy" and "toxic gameplay" despite this being way easier and way less fun to play against considering she can just walk back to lane and do this over and over until you're 0/12 at 10 minutes.

fuck off.

whats the problem?

My thought as well. Caitlyn's got that executed beautifully but that's like a 1 in a 100 chance, not likely to happen and if seen already could be avoided.

jinx could have avoided that trap

her engage timing was just awful though.

cait had level advantage, a kill, more range, a tower at her back, all abilities off cooldown, her passive was up, and 2 attack speed items to chain combos with

The question isn't "is it possible to avoid an animation-cancelled trap", it's "is it fair to dodge an animation-cancelled trap?" Well-executed or not, Caitlyn is mitigating an intended weakness of her traps in an obviously unintended fashion. The two biggest precedents for this are Rengar's triple-Q, which was removed, and Riven's animation-cancelling, which was deemed part of her playstyle and skill cap. Neither of those really compare to the ADC in the game with the highest consistent range, so it's an important question to ask.

PhDs Nuts16 votes

Jinx was hit by 3 headshots, net, rank 4 Q, and ult from a Cait that had a level advantage and a BF Sword while Jinx had Zeal and Recurve. Of course that happened.

Vistha Kai8 votes

There's a difference between being run down the lane and killed by a guy with stat advantage, than to get CC-locked and killed on the spot by a "siege" ADC.

Imagine, if that was the other way around.

I'm sure, you'd be screaming, "gut Jinx"

CeexSett3 votes

And being hit by 3 headshots in 5 auto attacks is normal?

Considering it takes like 8 hits to get one normally? (4 in bushes I think).

Bhagswag15 votes

That was amazingly well played by Cait.

SaltyKracka12 votes

Because she's significantly ahead, and Jinx hadn't bought boots.

... you don't find it odd in the slightest a ranged AD poke champion is doing more or less assassin level burst with an auto-attacking animation cancel they shouldn't really have? :l

That's not assassin level burst. That's an incredibly well executed combo which Jinx walked right into, finished off with an ult that is used for either poke or...well, execution on a fleeing enemy.

Srsly, Jinx walked right up to a Cait that already had headshot charged. She wasn't winning that trade no matter how she went about it.

I'm pretty sure there isn't an ADC with such a thing unless they're part assassin of sorts...

Alright, let's go through the list of ADCs that have an ability that can interrupt their Auto Attack animation, allowing them the ability to execute the combo Caitlyn executed.

Ashe Caitlyn Corki Draven Ezreal Graves Jhin Jinx Kalista Kindred KogMaw Lucian MissFortune Quinn Sivir Tristana Twitch Vayne

That combo took 4 seconds to do.

I've been killed by a rengar in .09 seconds and a fizz in .07 seconds.

It's not that big of a deal and is NOWHERE NEAR assassian level burst.

double trap is 4 second snare.

Rengar doesn't kill you from 1k range.

double trap is 4 second snare.

You cannot get double trapped for a 4 second snare. After you are trapped you are immune from further trapping for 4 seconds so that Cait cannot chain trap you.

GaleWinUnleashed4 votes

Well, you're immune to being trapped on the same spot for a period of time. I'm pretty sure you can walk a short distance and hit a different trap before that time is up.

Caitlyn also doesn't charge you from fog of war leaving you with POINT 0 FUCKING 9 SECONDS TO REACT.

Point rengar.

Hell that isn't even the biggest combo. I've seen a 6 item build jhin crit for 2k damage with a single auto attack.

Better nerf jhin. Point and click damage OP.

EddardStark843 votes

She's a SIEGE adc with the highest range in class (base). This really should NOT be something she should be able to do given what she excels at. It's common sense.

Jorencice2 votes

It's a combo. One that takes over 4 seconds.

Walk up to a Tristana and let her put her bomb stack it to max and W Ult you and see how fast she kills you.

Walk up to an ashe with rangers frenzy or what ever and let her ice arrow you and see how much damage it does.

Jinx was under leveled and farmed and got beautifully comboed.

Why not? Walking into e range of a cait with an already charged headshot is like walking up to a morde about to hit Q3, and the latter involves only one skill, while the combo above (on an underleveled jinx I might add) involved using every skill she had and landing them all perfectly. People mostly don't say morde shouldn't have Q3 and would blame the player for walking into it instead./

That particular 'combo' would have done probably less than half the damage had the jinx not ran back into the trap when it was set. Instead the jinx took full damage from the Q (it hit minions first, but it does full damage to trapped targets), and took the bonus headshot damage from the trap headshot itself.

All that should have hit was EQ Headshot, and perhaps a couple regular AA's though. The trap setup time is enough that even with the e's slow the target can avoid it, so this is simply a misplay on jinx's part.

morde is melee with zero dashes and zero cc. your argument is so fucking off the rails already i cant believe it.

"you let Rengar triple ferocity Q you? why'd you walk into range of his ultimate DUMBASS??!@!"

like fucking what

Mysticman897 votes

The fact he's melee and it's really stupid to do is the point.

If you literally walk up to a rengar with stacked ferocity as a squishy without the need for him to use any gap closers, then yes, you are a dumbass. If you see a rengar ult exclamation point, then you know he burned an ult and it's time to play safe; If you see a reng ult and decide it's time to engage, you're probably an idiot. The main thing is how you handle yourself when you can see something coming.

Cait's e is her only gap closer, and her traps are always avoidable in a 1v1 scenario, and her headshot is visible when it's ready. The jinx walked up (without minions!) to the cait in full knowledge she had a headshot ready, allowed her to use her net for offence instead of as a gap closer, and then actively turned around and ran into her trap.

While the cait played it well, it'd be hard to play it much worse on the jinx side.

I think the main problem is that cait really shouldn't be able to do any of this animation cancelling at all, to the point where she can cast three abilities at once.

She shouldn't be able to EQ for extended range, thats the definition of broken right there. Don't say it doesn't matter, because being that safe distance away while still having the same upclose and personal Q is genuinely a broken mechanic, it shouldn't be happening.

She shouldn't be able to W cancel E, which cancels Q, which in a normal amount of time would have taken about 5 times the amount of time, which probably would have allowed jinx to win that trade.

SaltyKracka2 votes

Haha what the actual fuck are you talking about?

E has always canceled Q. It's literally been Cait's bread and butter for years now.

Yes, and that's a bad thing.

EddardStark847 votes

That's ridiculous. I think Cait in general does way too much damage for the siege potential and range she has anyway. Add this type of thing on top of it? Oh lordy..

Arakadia3 votes

Plus she is quite safe, easy, and doesn't have much of a weakness, if any.

Lugg4 votes

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. The fault was all on the Jinx player for getting caught in the trap. It would be exactly the same if Jinx dropped her flame chompers under Cait and she didn't move.

Vistha Kai6 votes

You can't see or hear the trap, through all the canceling.

Compared to Flame Chompers which have travel time, arm time, have big as fuck visuals and that Jinx can't cancel the animation.

Lugg2 votes

Why can Riven animation cancel? It's just someone with lots of skill pulling it off. I don't consider that unfair since you can see the trap laid and it does have an arm time.

Vistha Kai3 votes

Did you even watch this video?

No, it's not visible, since Jinx was in the middle of her RED minions, while the Yordle Snap Trap is, in fact, RED for the enemy team. Not to mention Caitlyn placed it in the middle of EQ combo, which completely removed the trap's cast animation and made trap's sound nearly impossible to hear.

Lugg3 votes

I watched it three times. One, it is visible if you look. Two, you can distinctly hear it even with the commentary and background noise. Three, she did the combo perfectly removing the cast animation.

The salt is strong in this thread.

It's hardly visible, being able to hear it doesn't make it any more fair, and she shouldn't be allowed to do such an animation

There's just as much ignorance in this thread as there is salt

Lugg2 votes

I just find it amusing that people complain about Caitlyn when there are Zed Fizz Ekko Yasuo etc.

EddardStark845 votes

Just because other things are broken, people shouldn't bring up something else that is broken? What kind of stupid logic is that?

Lugg1 votes

The fact is that even if this was an unfair element on Cait, it pales in comparison to other elements of the game.

So you are saying that we can not talk about problem B because there is problem A?
