The new fiora - she might actually be strong.

After the latest hotfix buffs and more games, i think she is fine now. I played some more games and she defenitely seems like a very rewarding champion when played properly. She COULD use a very tiny buff here and there but i think its not really needed. People will discover her soon enough probably, despite her abysmal 39% winrate.

[I also made a montage on the new fiora, hopefully people can see that she is actually quite good.]

Anyway, what do you think of the new fiora and what do you personally build on her? I have tried some builds however im always open to new ones and im just generally interested.

I also would like to hear something from riot's perspective on the new fiora. Riot is (usually) right on their predictions, like mallet gnar. Their designers defenitely deserve more credit.

Current theory is that she might be a bit strong after the buffs (as opposed to far too weak beforehand). She's performing quite well at present, and probably still has some significant learning curve left for people who've just started playing the rework, so will likely do better again over the next couple of weeks. No immediate plans to nerf her in 5.16 though, her being too strong's very much still a possibility rather than a conclusion.

her win rate is low becuz fools go into ranked despite not learning her

Rito Staff8/15/2015, 7:30:42 PM2 votes

I discovered her already.. I've been playing rankeds and all. Silver II from III (playing her, and yes I made the difference)

Her ultimate when popped off makes all the difference in close/even matches.

For the new fiora, I don't go her old fiora build and go full melee adc build; instead, I build 2-3 damage items with a main focus on survivability (my typical damage items are Maw, Hydra, and BT) and the rest of the items are full tank. I usually rush a damage item, then alternate with a tank item, then alternate with another damage item. Because of Fiora's new ult, it's essential to survive in a team fight long enough to proc the heal, as well as do consistent damage through your passive, hence all of the lifesteal and tanky items. Edit: Also, the new Fiora is extremely skill-based, so if you feel really good with her you can go 4 ad items and still win.

A lot of those players could of killed you had they kept attacking instead of running

Well I can't ever win lane against her as Darius her supposed counter. The buffs might have been a little too much.

Only Kassa top has lower winrate than her atm. How is she needing nerfs? (I've looked champion.gg ,top, winrate). Wu has 55 % winrate with similar pickrate to her, Malphite - 54 % winrate with bigger pickrate than her. And you wanna nerf her. WHY?????

Complete freeelo at the moment, he picked fiora up just after the hotfix and simply 1 v 5s everygame in master and he didnt even learn her properly. Riot overbuffed her .

If you want some build i have a pretty cool one.

Into ad match-ups with soft or hard peal this build works. makes you impossible to kite.

Iceborn Gauntlet into cleaver plus 5% cdr glyphs. this means you can can cdr and take any boots you want plus ot have any mana issues. for roaming q is free and gives you alot of kill pressure.

This will be much better next patch as armor is getting nerfed. fior scales with cdr and ad, triforce seems like bait, all you only want it for the passives. this build has that.

as regarding items to get after its free reign, tiamat has insane wave clear and good dueling (also aoe's cleaver) or last whispers into tanks, even with the true damage you deal 90% physical.

then you can go straight tank as you heal scales with lvl not ad or full dps

she IS strong

39% winrate? Since her rework i played her 22 times, won 18 of those and hit mastery level 5. In at least half of those games people were complaining about how OP she is, and freaked out when i told them of the plans of buffing her. I honestly don't think she really needs those buffs, she's just really really difficult to do well with.

I go Black Cleaver, Hydra, Last Whisper for offense, and usually pick up Dead Man's Plate and Banshee's for defense.

I run AD reds, scaling CDR blues, MS quints, and armor golds, with 22/5/3 masteries (favoring CDR in offense and picking up movement speed in utility).

What are your Runes, MAsteries and Itemsets?

LordBrasca8/16/2015, 6:34:14 PM1 votes

Her lane power is extremely strong. You can pretty much all in at level 1 if you see enemy weak point in front of you. The problem comes in teamfight (at least for me) where using the ult becomes a lot harder.

I really LOVE this new Fiora, fun as hell to play. Regarding build, I usually start with Rushing Hydra, then building right into Trinity Force. After wards, depending on what the situation calls for, Frozen Mallet (For a little tankiness and chasing potential), Spirit Visage (the MR is great and the heal buff is really nice), and Boots of Swiftness (More mobility)! Last thing I build is usually the most situational. Mercurial Scimitar for heavy CC team comps or to deal with that annoying Malz, Bloodthirster if I need to last longer after fights before backing, and GA if you are very fed but need to be even more tanky for your team (though I have yet to try this item on her). Finally glad people are starting to see her OPness.

She seems pretty good, even though the sadist in me misses the Blade Waltz. The one thing I find lacking in the rework is that, as someone who uses her mostly in the jungle, that her passive does not work on large & epic monsters, thus taking the sustain away from her early clears.

Edit: I was watching Hai's stream last night, and he said almost the same thing, that Fiora has the makings of a good jungler if her passive worked on the camps.

Can you give some tips for a guy trying to get better at the new Fiora? I find it depends a bit on matchups too much how I do; I won against a Renekton, but got utterly destroyed by Mordekaiser. Usually when I play her I attract a lot of flame for playing a champion that was recently reworked with a low winrate, so I'd like to shut them up a bit more by playing her "properly". I don't think I fail to grasp the fundamentals, but could you share some hints on particular tricks (I'd understand if you'd rather keep the best to yourself!) or itemisation hints? How to enter a teamfight?

that video sadly confirms my own experience with fiora: The passive has verly little impact on her playstyle, it isn't realevant enough. She's prettymuch the same old rightclick till it's dead champ, just that her W now has insane potential in skilled hands while Q offers a bit more juke potential. I haven't seen a clutch outplay resolving around getting a passive proc in that montage, but serveral situation in which the W had imense impact, else it was pretty much the old q-aa-e-aa-q-aa-aa-e-aa-q-aa-aa-e-aa-qe-aa-ea-aeae-a stuff old fiora was known for, just with a bit more focus on burstspikes with new E and some jukes with Q... Her Ult adds slightly more, but i haven't seen it popping all 4 zones, usually 2 + the good old rightclick game, useing the absurd heal after the kill to survive minons/tower or turn around a 1v2...

I really wish her passive was more impactfull and needed compared to q+aa+e, while she could use some better tools to really use it. She still doesn't feel like danceing arounf her opponent to hit a weak spot, it'sa bit more about tactical withdraw and reengage with her more burst/hit and run rather than dps centered q+w+e, but still mostly straight forward...
