... as solo laners would the game really become that broken? Yes, being a support means less access to gold but I think more people would play support if they had access to more items, thus making it feel like they have a significant positive impact in game. Just a thought. WHERE IS URF?

The main question is this; if we gave the support position the same gold as a solo laner would it still be filled with support champions?

The whole reason supports work in support is because they don't need as much gold and support items are almost always cheaper.

Champions that make good supports aren't reliant on gold or items to do their job effectively, and have a significant positive impact despite the lack of gold. ADCs are very item dependent, but not that dependent on level, so sharing the xp with supports but getting all of the gold means they can still do their job as well. There's a reason the bot lane meta is the way it is.

Also, you didn't come up with any plausible solution to give supports more gold without it being easily exploitable by other roles.
