How Do You Lane With Shen

I recently bought shen and need some tips for laning against other people. I know shen is suppose to be very tanky and all but how do you win a lane. Do you be a lane bully and go in whenever you can? Or do you just harass and farm? I recently went against a olaf and could't win lane. I outrade him but he has life steal and just heals back up with minions. If i stay and try to keep battling him out he will just get more attack speed and will kill me. Any tips?

Read your ultimate. Understand that a global teleport is there for a reason - to help you snowball other lanes as well as yourself.

How do you win lane as Shen? You don't. You win the other two lanes, who in turn win yours.

Farm and harass with Q. It gives sustain. Use W to win trades. Use E to end trades after you win them so they can't turn it around.

Shen, to be honest, is a teamwork orientated champion, and cannot treat top lane like an island. In lower tiers of play, top laners just farm, farm, farm and never leave their lane. Even had a Darius go "Can't carry this team" because he as a severe phobia of missing one cs while his opponent led 5v4 teamfights that we just couldn't avoid. Poor guy. I think he has nightmares of missing one minion and wets the bed.

Anyway, jokes aside, Shen's ultimate is a great teamfighting/helping tool that cuts out the time it takes to leave lane to roam. Just ult whoever needs help, turn the tides of the battle, and when you're done just recall, get some items, and teleport back to your tower to farm for the next 2-3 minutes until your ult's up. Rinse, wash, repeat.

Also, make sure to use your Q on dragon and such. That way, your team's damage will heal them, and it makes it easier to contest objectives if your teammates aren't being destroyed by dragon or Baron.

And if you're against Fiora, build thornmail. She will out-cs you early, but if you don't give her a kill you can almost literally make her kill herself with that taunt.

What the fuck? You out traded an Olaf as Shen? That Olaf must've been complete shit. I guess he didn't land any spears and you didn't let him get into E range. Shen has relatively low damage. He doesn't really win lane against anyone. What's good about Shen is he stays even in lane with his heal/shield/dash, split pushes late game, and wins other lanes with his ult.

Shen doesn't win lane. He sits back and survives lane due to his sustain. Also last hitting with your Q is a good option if its a really rough matchup.

But with Shen, you farm till 6 and wait for an opening to ult to another lane and help snowball there. (Make sure to try and have the lane pushed before ulting so they don't get free damage on your tower if possible)

Late game, you split push and ult into team fights when needed.

Okay, don't listen to anyone saying you can't win lane as Shen. You win by capitalizing on your opponent's mistakes.

Your ult is a non-offensive ult, that means you need to win lane before that, or else step back and don't try to win. Not being so aggressive is fine: you have excellent ability to kite with your Q, fight under tower, and make quick trades/grab-a-CS with your passive.

There's a lot of things you can do with Shen. To start, try to pick off weakened minions, and sneak damage onto the enemy champion, while minimizing the damage you take. Don't stay at the center of the battlefield all the time.
