What I learned from Dominion as a gamer about games
- The BEST thing about a game is its community
The emotional attachment is always going to be there. I can tell you, even the people who left League to other games immedietly knew that Dominion was going down and felt it. Going into a game and seeing 4 or 5 other friends makes each match exciting, like I cant lose this. In-houses and Tournys also provided a clear end-game goal to playing, which was motivation
So basically, Riot, you shouldn't JUST say "hey, here's these tools to help you set up a community". You guys should actively take part in creating communities for us to join. One idea would be a tourny where everyone gets the same prize just for being there. Too much resources, right? fine, keep it to SR
- Games need to have agile updates
It's not so much that the MODE needs to be updated. To put this into a different context, how do you guys feel SR has updated over the past 4 years? 20%? less? I feel like it hasn't changed at all, but I know tons of things have changed in SR. But what effect does it have us? It's basically the same thing, just better balanced than 4 years ago. The 20% that I DO feel however is very good, and comes from 1 very specific source: mastery changes with every new season. This is the one thing that changes the game in a good way that ppl can feel. The rest of the support SR gets is essentially useless imo
Tl;dr: make exciting changes, not redundant ones, if your going to claim "the game is moving forward".
- Variety of things
short of it: I can't play 1 thing all the time. I quit all my previous games because of exactly that: once you play one thing enough, it gets boring. Thats why we need variety, and thats why I stuck with League for 3-4 years when all my other games lasted like 1.5 years
tyty that felt good
